What would we do without your intellectual input? Another searing incitement of US foreign policy, and one of which Madeleine Albright would doubtless be proud. What’s on the agenda for this week? “See Spot Run”?

Your misuse of apostrophe count for that post was: 4 of 26 words. Other errors: 5, giving 9 errors from 26 words, so therefore your MR (Moron Rating) for one post was 34%.

You're on a roll, dude! Keep up the good work [;)]

1. Nonsense about Britian or Russia. They werent gettin the job done before we entered. Did they contribute? Of course. Would their withdrawal have led to a loss, NFW.
2. The war would have been won eventually without D-Day.

Your knowledge of military history is woefully incomplete. And, in parts, clearly non-existent.

RF, you saved me posting. Many thanks.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable response now, coz one of the reference works on the subject of Russian involvement in WWII was written by a retired US Colonel [;)]

It's not even true to say that the US was the biggest combatant against Japan in the Pacific campaign. I have to say that surprised me when I first found out*.

Sadly too, too true.

I'm assuming you intended to aim this elsewhere.

Compared to a proper clown like yourself I'm merely a slightly talented amateur.

Good grief! A post from you that contains not a single error!

Ok so it's only 3 words long, is only one sentence, and contained no plurals, but still, it's a start. I think I'll print and frame it.

You'll be able to hold down a job at McDonalds in no time at this rate.

You don't need to be literate to hold down a job at mickey dee's: they have pictures on the till instead of figures.

So I'm told.

I don't eat there, but I'm going to pop in and have a look next time I pass one.

If that's true (and I've no reason to doubt you) it's ... well it's amazing.

Moonhead -> RE: U.S. Policy = Support the Dictators, Screw the People. (12/15/2010 1:55:21 PM)

Supposedly it was something they came up with during the early '80s as the people they could get for the wages they paid (in the 'States at least) weren't up to entering prices into a checkout.

Well yes it makes a sort of sense but ... ye gods.

Having a till where people could press buttons with pictures on them is cheaper than giving them a course in basic numeracy and expecting them to remember prices, I suppose.
(Of course, this could be one of those urban myth things...)

Who was? China? I've never thought about it that way, since of course we study wars from our national perspective, but it'd make sense of one of Japan's actual neighbors had more soldiers fighting against their imperialism than we did.

Most restaurants, even non-chain places, these days just have touch-screen registers with "buttons" with the name of the meal on them. Like "cheese pizza slice" or "medium soda" or "combo 3".
