I have nobody on hide because as a rule I find that everybody has a good point now and then, and have found myself agreeing with almost every poster at some point...well everybody but the alligator feeder and the Nazi-apologist, but even they are not on hide

The only time I may try to hide someone who be one is like's to act like a foolish child and starts insulting me,then yes I could see a reason for that.If I return the favor,why should it both them.Let's say RapierFuge wants to insult me on other threads time after time,that does get old.So when I come on here and return the favor,deal with. People who have their nose's so long that they look down on other people also deserve what they get.I am man of people.I don't pretend to tell myself I am any better or any worse then someone else.Sure,I have flaws but at least I have my dignity too.Beside'swho really cares what someone says over a computer screen.Shame on me if I let such foolish non-sense even get to me.Beside's,I live in Flordia.I live near the water,have plenty of sunshine and get to deal with a warm winter.I should probaly go to the beach.I know people in colder climates have nothing better than to sit on a computer 24/7 and really do nothing else.Have fun freezing.

After reading all the responses so far on this thread, I've come to the conclusion that I must not be reading much of what is posted here in the forums. I just haven't really seen a lot of bigoted, hateful, self-righteous, or mean people posting. Either that, or there's only one or two people like that and it just happens that everyone has them blocked.... [:)] As a side note, I've reached a perfect solution for unwanted guests at my front door. I just don't answer it. It's my door and there's no requirement that I open it for anyone just because they knock or ring the bell. Same goes for the phone. [;)]

That's one reason why I generally only use my land-line for net traffic; I keep my mobile (with caller ID) as the only way to get hold of me for voice comms. With a land line, if you're not in, they leave a message, you chase them, they're on the phone, etc. With a mobile, either they get you when you want them to, or they get punted to voicemail. I further screen by having 2 mobiles, one "work", one "private", and using a small Bluetooth headset that connects to both at the same time, with different ring tones to differentiate between them.

Landline for the internet seems a bit archaic... Actually I don't mind landlines, got one for work with an answering machine that doesn't record, just lets them know that I am unavailable right now and they can reach me on the mobile or via email - amazing how many things people can figure out themselves. A private landline for friends and family abroad, calling a mobile in the UK from another country is quite expensive (ooops, might have to tell mom that the landline doesn't work anymore so I could get away without having my ear chewed off) and 2 mobiles (technically 3 but one is a pay as you go thing and the number I use only if you have to give a number somewhere and there is a suspicion they might sell it on to telemarketers). I tend to not answer calls without caller ID, it's usually somebody trying to sell me double glazing. Btw I told my boss this morning about the water plan for the Countryside Alliance, he spotted a flaw in it: For them to get on my property I have to press the buzzer so they can get through the gate and since I check who's there over the intercom, one could argue that I lured them on my property to douse them with water, especially if it is with a hose that just doesn't happen to be a natural part of my office furniture. He advised me against it, especially in this weather, and also mentioned one of them only needs to go home, dunk something technical in the water (iPhone etc.) and claim the dousing caused it, because the moment I press the buzzer and open the gate, I invite them on my property, they're not trespassing. Boss recommended to tell them that I'll be down in a minute and then ignore them and leave them standing, an option that is less likely to get me into trouble.

Of course, you'd have a few rotten eggs who would have signed up anyway, but Israel is bordered exclusively by states, the majority of whose populations would be quite happy if she were to vanish into non-existance. Further, her armed forces have been used largely against aggressive incursion, not AS aggressive incursors. In the few exceptions where they've been misused (notably the West Bank), the Israeli conscientious objector movement (aka "Refuseniks") within the army/air force have done all of humanity PROUD by declining to bomb areas wholly or largely populated by ordinary people, or open fire on unarmed citizens. I'm going to Eilat, down south a long way away from any likely violence. And the girls, ohhhhhhhhhh...

You know I'm not sure either. 2 years ago I was working for a company that demanded 24/7 connectivity and communications with its seniors, so I had a) a "hard wired" land line broadband, b) a mobile/cellular USB high-speed modem dongle and ... c) a small 56k modem with a PAYG land line modem number [;)] Fucking archaic, but it still saved me twice, when I was somewhere (in the middle of bunghole nowhere) that had no broadband and no mobile signal. Not sure anyone would bother these days, TBH. OTOH, you don't realise how data-transmission intensive modern apps like Outlook are until you've used them via a 56k modem. I salute you [;)] BTW you were saying previously that the military were "killers". That doesn't actually change if they're conscripted, but not to worry. A number of moral contradictions are doubtless inevitable when walking such a fine line.
