quote:
I am proud to be an American and affirm that the United States of America is one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. I embrace the historical heritage of the Redneck. This heritage includes men wearing red scarves around their necks while escaping religious persecution in Scotland centuries ago. It includes farmers whose hard work in the sun-drenched fields of this nation’s breadbasket burned their necks crimson red while keeping Americans fed. As a Redneck, I work hard and I play hard. As a Redneck, I am able to laugh at myself. In short, as an American Redneck, I have a sense of country and a sense of humor. I think that seems pretty wonderful. Would you be making fun of another culture and feel comfortable about it? I'd like to know about the "education" that is being taught to the young folks, but all in all, why not? Hard-working, good, salt of the earth people who feed our country and carry the load on their backs are rednecks. If their educational program is about teaching the newest farming techniques or supports teaching people how to hunt for food or something like that, why not support them? I couldn't get through to read everything from the website, but the above quote is from the homepage. Seems pretty reasonable to me. I don't particularly care for NASCAR, but I love me some Toby Keith. I may not live on the farm, but I sure do respect the farmer that puts food on the tables of you and me. I don't know how to hunt, but I have certainly had Bambi-stew. best, sunshine of Scottish descent, granddaughter of a farmer, from the breadbasket of the USA, working hard, playing hard, proud of the fundamental beliefs my country was built on, and able to laugh at myself... proudly redneck from way back.
