Ok- let me re-phrase the argument. Was it really necessary for the airport to turn off the lights and the heat- in light of the circumstances? It snows- I get that. Things get shut down- perfectly understandable. But it was an error on the management to shut off the heat and the lights. On that- they deserve any blame that they get. The act is cruel.

I've not read anything elsewhere about the heating. My experience is that large archaic buildings don't tend to keep heat in them well, the boiler could be on full blast and they may still feel cold. It isn't the most up to date facility, blame BAA yesterday for today. They didn't fix the airport roof when it was sunny, as they say.
