For the record, I've owned guns and having been in the military and a cop, I know I'm not afraid to pull the trigger if it called for it. One sister at home owns guns for protection, they live in the sticks and the nearest cop is more than likely 15 minutes minimum away from her town, let alone her home. She too wouldn't hesitate to shoot to kill....yes, we both shoot to kill, why waste the lead????
I know first hand how thinly stretched police departments are, and the fact that they barely can keep up with the violent crime that is occuring every minute. I once spent 47 minutes on the phone with a woman whose house was being broken into just waiting for an officer to become available to take her call. I had her hide under the bed and be very quiet....we both heard the 2 men in her room going thru her drawers and closet. Personally, I'm not sure who was more terrified, me or her. We did manage to catch the idiots coming out the front door with the loot they found. She told me that if she'd had a gun, she would have used it in a heartbeat. I know if it had been me, I would have!
