i see two basic problems, # mismatch #2 he is reluctant in expressing his desires for whatever reason

Jelly Bellies really are awesome. If you buy one of the huge packs they come with little recipe books, giving you ideas of what flavors to eat at once to mimic an ice cream sundae.

Do you mean chips or crisps? I.e. fried spuds or what you guys call potato chips?

Either way, yes :)

But we don't get decent corn chips here :( (tortilla chips yes, corn chips no).

I love those Frito-Lay things ... I think they have "lay" in the name coz they're better than sex ;)

Potato chips. I went out with some kinky folks once and encountered a vending machine stocked solely with goodies from the UK.

Love in a canoe? I have no idea what that is. BTW do you get any of the good American beers? Like Sam Adams or some of our micro-brews or just the shitty crap that I refuse to acknowledge? XD

I ask because a friend from Australia bemoaned the fact that Fosters is considered to be the 'best' Australian beer by most Americans due to all the commercials aired for it over here.

Sam Adams isn't a patch on what we already have, so although it's available in bottles in a few places, no-one with any sense would drink it when there's better on offer.

The microbrewery stuff, sadly, doesn't travel as it's live (like our "real ales"), so although I've tasted some in America (and enjoyed it a lot) it's not available here.

Do you get all the varieties of Sam we do or just the Boston Lagar? I'm fond of their summer ale.

To tell you the truth, that is how a lot of beer folks in the US refer to Budweiser as well. As a home brewer, I get a lot of folks wanting to recreate Bud and it drives me insane. Why would anyone want to?

It is a shame about the mircobrews though. I hate it when people think the piss-water is the height of American brews.

To be fair, the majority of what's served here is "mainstream" keg beers, same as the US. The difference is it's pretty easy to find the good stuff if you look.

Actually, it's not hard at all to find the good stuff here as long as you can bothered to actually walk into a grocery store and not stop at the gas station. At least, here in NC it is along with most other states I've been too.
