Saying hateful things is not the same as saying things hatefully.

True; however, both are likely to be counterproductive when the goal is to resolve issues, due to the fact that ‘hate’ tends to be distracting, no matter how politely it is stated.

These are also hateful thoughts and ideas, and we should respond to them with fury and righteous indignation.

Comes off as 'self-absorbed pride'. Is the goal to intimidate?

Rex, you need to look at the big picture. We have a president who doesn't know what he's doing and who nobody likes.

Your data is a little old, Bush isn't in office anymore.

ALL HAIL DEAR LEADER! Anything other than total obedience is "hate speech" and will be dealt with. ALL HAIL!

Got Steel, I was referring to Obama.
If he was up for reelection next week do you really think the nutty professor would be reelected?

I remember a colleague of mine in 2008 asked if I wasn't concerned about Palin's lack of experience. I spit my coffee out laughing. She had no idea why I reacted the way I did. Unbelieveable, but this is the state of mind of leftists.

That would depend on who he ran against. If they put him up against Sarah, he would get my vote.

Why?
Is it because he's done such a great job?

No, because the only choices we get suck and we end up voting for the lesser of two evils.

Termyn8or,I agree with you on this one.It has become really just voting for the lesser of the 2 evils. It would be nice to see a real 3rd party alternative in this country.

How about if we look at the small picture?

You believe that your opinions mirror the opinions of the entire country.

I see very little support for Obama as Obama...generally the support is for the Democrats being in office, not him specifically. More often, the sentiment is anti-Republican rather than pro-Democrat.

Why, so you can vote for the least of 3 evils? 3 parties won't change your mindset.

The problem is that both parties are focusing on bashing the other side, and voters are eating it up like cake. Just look at this board, the back and forth is "Democrats did this horrible thing" vs "Republicans did this horrible thing" trying to show which is worse.

In an ideal world, it would be "Democrats did this great thing" countered with "Republicans did this better thing" so that politicians would have to earn votes based on their works rather than get the default vote after showing how bad the other guy is.

rml you get the gold star for the day. You have described projection, in a psychological sense. We all do it to some degree.

More later, shrimp night.

The unindicted co-conspirators of the Giffords shooting tragedy are Roger Ailes and Sarah Palin.

I dont agree with this, if anything the blame lays with the language of American politics. Both main parties have used adds containing crosshairs, both have used inflammatory speech. When disturbed people read such stuff on a constant basis, they probably become more disturbed.

Well, I am not sure I would say he has done a great job. I am conservative after all, but I will say I am happy with some of the things he has done. And I think he has done a better job at it than Sarah would have if she was elected.

Well in all fairness to pops, there are a few posters who also seem to think his opinion mirrors the opinions of the entire country.

In fairness to Sarah, she would have quit after a year, so that you really ought to compare four years of Obama damage to one year of Palin damage.

He's doing a better job than Lord Ronald Reagan by Jan. 1983. That is of course if you wish to deal with facts and not supposition based on what you hear from the demagogues

Logically so. The republican party is in fact...the 'Capitalist party.'

I have not heard or seen from the left anything like you describe and what I have seen from the right.
