I have a few persons on Hide because I have a problem with their avatar: obscene, vulgar, too hectic, perhaps etcetera ...

Am I the only person who has such objections to some avatars?

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 3:44:56 PM)

I rarely pay attention to people's avatar's. So no I don't usually have problems with them. If it's something animated that flashes and is obtuse or something THEN I notice it, but reg avs, no.

You have not voted.

Depends...if they are claiming that the avatar is their own yet you have seen it on another site, I have a problem with that.

I have lots of Dawn pics on Photobucket, but I do give Linsner due credit because it is his work...

Speaking of which...I have to check out that site again.  I need to forward some wedding pics of someone's wedding.

No. To be honest I never even notice them. I never seem to even glance at them.

One the silver boards is terrible for that. Worse then here.

girlygurl -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 6:21:43 PM)

No, I haven't run across an avatar that bothers me enough to block the person.

barelynangel -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 6:26:37 PM)

I did once, but i didn't block the person, i reported the post and asked about the avatar because it really freaked me out.  They hadn't seen it yet.

I often look at the avatars before the post, because I associate certain avatars with certain people. I haven't hidden anyone because of their avatar, but occasionally I will see an avatar that is annoying or gross. There is one on the boards right now that bothers me, but I don't hide her posts because I'm interested in what she has to say.

January -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 6:42:47 PM)

Only once.

Not only was his avatar obnoxious, but he also wrote in huge, bold letters. In spite of all that posturing, he had nothing to say.

Yes, there's been a avatar or two that i found difficult to look at for various reasons.  i have never hidden anyone because of them. While i like looking at the little artwork clip a person puts up to represent themselves, it's the words they write that are more important. Everyone here writes something interesting, on occasion.

poise -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 6:50:26 PM)

Only one so far. It was painful to look at, and instead of trying to read anything they may
have typed, I quickly clasped my knees together tightly and back tracked out of the thread.

And then there are those random Introduction drive byes!
Thankfully they dont make it much further in the forums.

LadyPact -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 7:01:17 PM)

I voted yes, but I feel My vote is misleading.

I absolutely do have issues when folks post a full frontal nudity shot as an avatar,  In addition, I don't think anyone should be posting pictures of people that are not themselves or shots they have photographed themselves.  I also have a pet peeve about folks who post a pic of them with other people pictured who obviously are not in a dynamic with that person.

What I think you were really asking though is are there shots related to BDSM that bother Me.  My answer to that is no.  I have no problem with someone that wants to show off their latest bondage scene, needle piercings, whip marks, or anything else that is related.  That's My exception to the rule on the cock pics.  If it's a great CBT shot, I don't report those.

No, I am not asking that. Some BDSM avatars are in good taste and esthetically pleasing.

The poll addresses all motives one can have for rather not seeing an avatar.

DesFIP -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 8:57:14 PM)

Certainly. What's the difference between blocking someone because you find what they say offensive and blocking them because what they show is offensive?

Tantriqu -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 9:25:27 PM)

Only one. Nudity doesn't bother me, but sadism, esp. with dacrophylia, does.

paintedshadows -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/13/2011 9:29:41 PM)

They only bother me when something  is really out there. Something I didn't expect to see and it momentarily wierds me out or brings a bad memory.

I'm sorry.  I've had it a long time.  I don't know what I would do without it!  Sobs!  [sm=runaway.gif]

Phoenixpower -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 12:45:16 PM)

I dont hide avatars but usually dont read posts which have the blinky/moving avatars as they just hurt my eyes in not a good way....so I can't be bothered to put up with that flicking on my screen

Marc2b -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 1:00:13 PM)

I have never blocked anyone because of their avatar but I do dislike the moving ones - too distracting.

It also annoys me when people constantly change their avatars (Luclylastic... I'm looking at you[:)]). Pick one and stick with it!

I do think it is important to remind myself not to let a person's avatar influence your opinion of them too much. For example, I have to remind myself that Thishereboi is not a super smart baby (but I do have a bad habit of reading all of her posts in Stewie's voice, always starting each one with: "I say..."). [:)]
