Nope, not really. It is rare I'm offended by a picture, but when/if I ever find something that bothers me I'll just report it.

I don't block people on the forums. I did it a couple times, but found the notification of "you can't read this person's post, because you've blcked them" very annoying. It just made me WANT to read their posts; guess its just that winsomely defiant nature of mine.

I didn't vote because neither option worked for me. I HAVE objected to an avatar, but I don't block people. Yes, I've infrequently preferred NOT to see the Avatar, but had no desire to not be able to see the posts because of it.

I have a few persons on Hide because I have a problem with their avatar: obscene, vulgar, too hectic, perhaps etcetera ...

Am I the only person who has such objections to some avatars?

In this past almost-year, only twice.  The first was a guy's and I don't remember what the problem was other than his avatar really soured my mood every time I saw it.  More recently, I put some female here on hide because I really don't want to see what she's showing.  Others have suggested changes to her avatar.

Moving ones don't bother me...domiguy's twin birds used to crack me up and I missed it when it was gone.

subinlife -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 2:49:06 PM)

There is only one avatar that I don't like, But I didn't put them on hide.
I just ignore the pic.

I saw one avatar that was a photograph of the gate of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.  I found this highly offensive and objectionable.

Yeah, that slave with the skinny abs. He's fucking painful to look at, the boy seriously needs to slam down a few cheeseburgers.

kalikshama -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 3:17:13 PM)

Not sure if you're referring to this female or not. I've tried several times several ways to change my avatar to no avail. All that computer school, useless.

purepleasure -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 3:26:33 PM)

it's not the avatars I have issues with. it's the attitudes.

sexyred1 -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 3:28:36 PM)

Ditto. I could care less except for what LadyPact said about some guy hanging it all out there on the main profile pic.

On the other hand, at FetLife, jeez, there are some avatars and photos that make run from the room screaming.

Otherwise I don't notice avatars, just what is said.

angelikaJ -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/14/2011 3:39:01 PM)

Last week there was an avatar with something that looked non-consentual. I reported it.
I don't know if it was pulled; the thread that the poster began was pulled (it was his avatar).

I prefer not to see cock shots...and other pink bits.
In part because it annoys me that the people posting them haven't read the instructions, and in part because I don't like that stuff tossed at me.

However, that is something ignore-able. Non-consentual anything is not.

The poll does not ask whether one puts a poster on block or Hide because of their avatar. It simply asks whether one is never bothered by an avatar, or whether it infrequently occurs that one would rather not see a specific avatar.

Nope and nope.

If someone has an avatar I consider offensive, I just dont pay attention.

Ugh, you're right.

It would be awesome if there was the ability to hide individual avatars, while still being able to see the individuals posts! I'm pretty sure that option isn't available on any smf/php type message boards or modified themes that I know of, but it would be nice if it was.

GreedyTop -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/15/2011 1:26:03 AM)

the only time avatars annoy me is when it is blatant genitalia, or if it a stock avatar that I associate with ONE person and find that someone else is using it.

twistedwillow -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/15/2011 1:34:23 AM)

Not interested in pink or dangly bits, as avatars but do they annoy me? no, not really ... I try not to sweat the small stuff.

But I do like avatars of faces\the person, as it helps me put a 'face to the name.'

Indeed. I tried to suggest as much by clicking on that scrolling option, but when I had typed in my suggestion, it did not take. Meanwhile it occurred to me that it would be necessary to investigate whether there was a want for such a 'Hide this avatar' button, or whether I was the exceptional only one who would appreciate such a button. Hence this poll.

But the poll is too directed, in terms of having only 2 options. It's not quite that simple.

If you'd added a third option, like for example "on a list of stuff to get annoyed about, this ranks right up there with Bureau De Change quoting exchange rates to a third decimal place, or what colour the Queen's underwear is, therefore although I may be occasionally bored or very occasionally mildly miffed by an avatar, I don't actually give enough of a fuck to want CM to waste a single cent sorting it" then I'd have participated.

GreedyTop -> RE: Do you - infrequently - have a problem with someone's avatar? (1/15/2011 5:56:17 AM)

I am annoyed by RF's avatar, since (as charming as it is), it doesnt fully depict what a joy it is to have him around here :)
