let me get this straight, burning fossil fuels does not put massive amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere?

You have not got it straight. Burning fossil fuels does put massive amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere.

So what? The higher carbon dioxide content will stimulate plant growth, resulting in better and faster crops and increasing the number of animals that live on the plant growth.

The evidence, as accepted by the VAST fucking majority of climatologists points to accelerated climate change that has NO precedent in history.

Again: so what? A higher temperature will increase evaporation and increased evaporation will result in increased precipitation. The Sahara might bloom once more.

While the climate has fluctuated over the centuries, it seems that there is something different that can be directly linked to the increased carbon emissions.

You have not got that straight. The ice has been retreating for thousands of years, without all of that added carbon dioxide. There is no evidence that there is a direct link between the input of carbon dioxide and an increase in the global mean temperature. The supposed link is merely a hypothesis.

As rule, pahunk and realone would claim, it is all done with camera tricks.

Please do not strawman me.

I gotta say that I genuinely am worried about your state of mind. You do show signs of obsessive compulsive disorder or persecution disorder, and stress in relation to pahunkboy and RealOne and me. That cannot be healthy. It is best to prevent a break-down or burn-out. I think that it might be in your best interest to click the Hide button on all three of us, and for you to perhaps take a break from CollarMe, as well as perchance to consult a counselor or priest? (If the latter, my advice is to not accept any psycho-pharmaceutical medication, as it is wise to distrust all medication. Just talk.)

Rule, You failed chemistry didnt you? You also seem have no clue about atmospheric physics and meterology.

Increased CO2 in the atmosphere leads to a very slight increase in plant growth.
We wont get better and faster crops because the growth rate of plants under optimal conditions is genetically determined.
The problem is that the major areas of plant growth on the planet (rain forests) are being cut at a rate that, unless it slows, will eliminate them within 2 generations
The increase in plant growth can't soak up the carbon because if, as you said, animals eat the plants, it gets released back into the atmosphere.
As for increased temperatures making the Sahara bloom again, that is a bunch of crap.

Increased temps will increase the amount of water the atmosphere can hold without raining and actually do the opposite and increase worldwide desertification.

You are right about the ice retreating for thousands of years. But, the ice is retreating at a faster rate than at any time since the last ice age.

Note: I'm not pointing to causality here but there IS a strong correlation.

Our whole exchange has been about my QUESTIONS, not claims.

And there are also periods of time when increases in CO2 were strongly correlated to PRIOR increases in temperature. BFD.

Okay, let me be the voice of reason here.

Since you previously decided to post a chimp as your avatar then it is perfectly reasonable to call you monkeyboy.

On the other hand, I have never seen Hill's avatar having anything to do with scat.

No need to thank me, I'm just happy to help.

Give him some credit. It was the best he could come up with.

Well, hunky, a society that forgets its history is doomed to repeat it.

The Roman empire is a classic and well documented example of a political unit that encompassed a huge portion of the known world at the time and utterly collapsed. There are lessons to be learned there.

I agree 100%.    It took Rome 50 years to unravel.  So we have some time to go yet.

Dearest Moon,

You really ought to thank me for being wrong.   Because when I am right, it won't be pleasant.
