Yea, but these people have a point. Some can be exposed over and over and not catch anything. What about that Helen Woman or whatever and the other nurse, and that typhoid broad, they could drown in a barrel of maggots and come out like they just stepped out of the shower.

And, believe it or not, showers are unhealthy.

I am sure peoples resistance is being tested this week.    Seems like a low energy level- around almost despondent.  Not me per se- but people in general - the mood now.

1. Do not have the heat on (unless it is far below zero degrees Celcius). Dry air will dry out one's mucous layers, enabling viruses and bacteria to thrive.
2. When inside, put on one or more sweaters and one or more pairs of socks and perchance a second pair of trousers, a pair of gloves and a cap.
3. Avoid public transport as their interiors are heated, drying out the air, drying out one's mucous layers; and they are filled with people, one of whom may be contagious, and they often recycle their interior air, causing the bugs exhaled by the one contagious person to attack one again and again.
4. Do not eat sweets nor fruits in large quantities. Bacteria already living on your mucous layers can be stimulated by such food to thrive and to cause a cold.

I spent some time- near family- and the heat was too dry.  Entirely too dry.

There. That caused it.

lol...it is in the teens here and i went to the grocery store in a sweatshirt and jeans.

Other than the basic hand washing, i am pretty relaxed about prevention. I'll be damned if i am going to be intimidated by a microscopic germ.

I had a cold last year. Prior to that, it had been about 10 years since i was sick.

Everyone at work has been sick.  We tell them to stay home.  I got my flu shot, wash my hands regularly, take Airborne when I feel like something might be coming on, try to get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, and eat healthy.  I've stayed healthy amidst everyone around me hacking a lung.  Gotta love sitting in a conference room in a meeting and people are coughing to death in it.

Because of all the traveling I do, I always get sick.

I was sick for about 6 weeks (par for the course for me). AT one point, everything in my life revolved around snot. No, I"m not kidding. The worst part was finding out that there is no Vicks Vaporub in this country. The things you miss, eh?! Well, I'm buying some and bringing it back. I went to a pulmonologist who'd never HEARD of it. I'm bringing some for her, too. Maybe they will order it. Wouldn't that be cool if I changed the face of medicine? Ha ha ha... That'd be me being too big for mah britches!

I'm better (at last!). I'm staying warm warm warm. I bought a couple of sweaters, and now my whole world is yummy.

best,
sunshine

It is my habit to walk the dog outside twice a day, no matter the weather. one and a half miles every morning, two miles every evening. I rarely, if ever, get the flu or colds. I believe it is the daily exposure to outside air that keeps my immune system strong. I work in a shop, around lots of people, phones are shared, I touch other peoples steering wheels, door handles etc. constantly. When the flu races through the shop I don't usually get it. This year a particulary nasty strain was floating around, people that caught it were bedridden for days, I caught it and had a runny nose and sore throat, for about three days. I had my annual physical at that time, my doctor didn't believe me when I told her I had the flu. She was abit put out when I declined the flu shot. I would like to believe that healthy eating helps, but it was thus even before I started to concentrate on good health.
The dog is 12 years old, so I've been in this habit for 11 years. Unfortunately, it hasn't kept the dog from contracting lymphoma.

Well yes, and yet and at the same time, no.

The problem with showers is the environment of the shower curtain or cubicle. They provide breeding grounds for bugs. So long as you clean & disinfect your shower area regularly, they're no worse than baths or any other form of cleaning.

That is the key, frequent hand washing. And don't rub your eyes with your hands. Use a kleenex or paper towel or soft cloth or whatever if you really need to rub your eyes.

Amazing.  I have that on hand too. I think there is an ingredient in it- that- one is not supposed to rub alot on the skin.  I like the vapor rub- but do not over use it.

Vicks!!!  My grandmother used to chase us around the house and rub it ALL OVER us!  We hated that stuff.  But yes, it totally works LOL.

I find Tiger Balm White does a better job, and doesn't contain the chemical nasties that Vics does.

lol....my grandma was addicted to Vicks Inhalers....those little things about the size of a lipstick? My cousins and I would sit on her bed and play with them, sticking them in each others noses, seeing who could last the longest. Good times, lol.

LOL!  I remember the smell of Vicks beings so strong it lingered all the way down the hall from my mom's room.  I used to wonder how my dad could sleep with her.  Now I'm wondering if they weren't using it for recreational reasons.  Oh gawd....I went there.  Why or why did I go there?

I use my Neti Pot on a pretty regular basis. My allergies and sinus infections have decreased at LEAST 50% since I started doing this.

I take colloidal silver whenever I feel like I'm coming down with something. There is NO pathogen known to man that this stuff can't kill. You just have to be careful with your use of it.

I try to sleep enough, take vitamins, eat healthy, and exercise. I am also around kids a lot so I have built up a decent immunity to their germs.

I do get a flue shot every year and a pneumo vac every 5 years. But I am in the "At Risk" category.

And when all else fails, I'll do an OTC type thing to help me get through the day and sleep A LOT so my body can heal at night. But I won't go to a doctor unless it's 100% necessary. I HATE antibiotics.
