I voted that it was not a chick flick because "I watched it once and wished I could bleach it from my brain forever" was not an option.

I put it down as a horror film. Sure she rescued him at first, but when she came back for the second time she doomed him. Now, if he had cold-cocked her and tossed her in the lifeboat both of them might have gotten out alive.
