that means we wont import as much, because people will learn to live without the shit, and your box of cheerios, made domestically will be bought, it also means our exports will look more attractive to the outside world because they are cheaper.

Its the old reverse Chinese checkers trick.

We manufacture nothing that I use to run a household.  Nothing.   Everything I use to run a house is shipped in.

In which case, you're part of the problem, not part of the solution, which makes your constant hissy fits look hypocritical as well as pathetic. Perhaps you should stop whining like a schoolgirl and start buying domestically?

Show me the products we make.  Show me.    Today I bought oranges, bread, milk, paper bowls, and filtered water, mushrooms and celery.

I plan to buy chocolate this week.

Yep. The 'States is one of the biggest food producers, and has been for a long time. It's about the best export you guys have at the moment, isn't it?

I was thinking more of beef, grain and processed foods, to be honest. You export a shitload of all three.

Then I am a good American.

But with the "rising middle class" of India and China-  why would I want them to buy the food I need to eat?

So where did you buy your groceries if they weren't produced domestically, then?

It is January.  The produce is not automatically US grown.

But this is the type of things I buy.   I seldom if ever buy plastic do dads.   It never lasts- then I have to pay for garbage disposal- so it is just easier to not buy it.

Even then, gas will never be free.

The British Empire had a lock on most of the oil-producing nations of its time and petrol wasn't free. Drilling, refining and transporting petroleum is costly. Also, maintaining the large occupational force to keep those regions "stable" is hugely expensive.

Britain hardly had any oil producing Countries in the Empire. Shell was a joint venture between the British and Dutch. Anglo Iranian ( Now BP ) operated under license from the Shah. Besides that the common man didnt have cars here until the 60s, not en mass anyway. Oil here was relatively cheap until the 1973 oil crisis, when Middle Eastern nations cottoned on to the commodity they had. Up until WW" most of our oil came from the US, after that it came from the middle east, until the mid 70s when North Sea oil was discovered.

You haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about, and probably don't understand what a transmission does.

The best selling electric real car has no transmission.

The torque profile of an electric motor isn't anything like ICE.

Everyone knows what a transmission is.  It is that part of a vehicle that TRANSMITS the power from the engine to make the wheels go aound.

At least that was how I have explained it to the mechaically disinclined.

If you expect anything of Wilbur besides pouting and avoiding questions on his statements, I'm sure you will be.
