Status: offline 		As I recall, Team 0bama0 said little or nothing in support of Iranian dissidents while they were in the streets. They've been far more outspoken in support of  Egyptian protestors.

Why the difference?

Let's see. The Iranian protestors were pro-Western.
               The Egyptian protestors are to some degree influenced, and may
               be co-opted by the jihadist Muslim Brotherhood.
               Advantage: Egyptian protestors.

               The current Egyptian regime is mute on the subject of Israel.
               The current Iranian regime is violently anti-Israel.
               Advantage: Egyptian protestors.

It will be a joy, however, to see the effect of $5 gasoline on his approval ratings. Can anyone say "Drill, Baby Drill!!!"

Status: offline 		Actually the difference is that in Iran any support of the demonstrators by the US would have done harm to the movement's reputation amongst the Iranian populace while that is less true in Egypt.

Could be coincidence, and I admit bias confirmation may play a part, but his knee surely does seem to me to jerk toward Mecca.

Could be that you're a bigot who hates him for a fairly obvious reason having nothing to do with his political actions.

Given our history with revolutions in Iran, it was the smart thing to do, distasteful as it may have been.

Conservatives supporting a decision by President Obama... I'm surprised to see you able to hold or express such a concept, Ken.

Did you see VP Joe Biden on the news the other day? "Mubarak is not a dictator!"
And Hillary Clinton is backing him up with all her chortling.
So, we have the Obama administration backing up a dictator with $Billions of Taxpayer Dollars and most Americans on the side of the protestors.
Should (we) get involved, of course not!!!

Yes, because you NEVER hold a bias against President Obama...

An again, another 'arguement' on the President's religious faith. Does it need to be said for the 88th billion time? He isn't muslim.

What they're doing is playing the usual game, saying the right things about both sides until they see which way it's going to go. Then they'll jump in on that side, say that was the side they were on all along, and caution that even though "their" side one, the other side still had a legitimate point and needs to be listened to going forward. Same old same old. Mubarak will be out by the middle of February, and suddenly we'll all find out that he was never our friend to begin with, that we supported the oppositon all along. Amazing, eh?

Which political party was it, that gave all those arms to the Taliban 'a few years ago'? How many countries run by despots and dictators, did we ignore under each Republican Administration?

What would you have the President do? Sit on the sidelines and do nothing? The Iranians would have been portrayed as 'western-sympathizers' by the religious media (their version of Fox News). It would have greatly undermind their efforts. In Egypt, if the people can get what they want, without bloodshed and violence, the better. Sadly, that country will have to experience much destruction and sorrow before cooler heads prevail.

Or would you have the President, 'Send in the Marines!' as an opening salvo to another war? We could go in there to 'liberate' the people, and then give their oil back to them.....for free*. Yes, I seem to recall some President having done that in another Middle East Country.

....Oh Yeah! George W. Bush! How much did that war cost us? $3 Trillion!

According to "The Cost of War" website the two wars have cost : 1,144,746, 227,829.00 dollars as of 17:38 hours, 29 January 2011, and rising by several hundred thousand dollars a minute.

Joether, yes, I would have the president sit on the sidelines and do nothing.
How we get in trouble is getting involved in the internal affairs of foreign countries and yes that includes Iraq!
Would you get between a husband and wife arguing? Even the cops don't want to do that.
Like everyone says, we're not the world's policeman! We shouldn't harm but we shouldn't help either.

Since a CBO report, published in Oct 2007, puts the price tag at $2.4 trillion. $1.9 trillion was spent on Iraq, while the rest is from interest, as we paid for that war on borrowed money.(1) It would have been 80% less, if then, President George W. Bush didn't reduce taxes for the rich (from 39% to 35%). Yes, Americans had a reduction in taxes, but the amount of money saved, was larger the higher in the tax brackets one went (no suprised, given GWB's political party).

Does your price tag also include all the veterans who lost limbs and life, in that $1.1 trillion total? According to the same source, the long term cost is between $350 Billion to $700 Billion.

Should I throw down the cost of the War in Afghanistan?

Popeye, the USA *needs* to get involved in the affairs of other countries in order to maintain the lifestyles that its citizens enjoy today. Cheap imports can only stay cheap because they come from countries where production is kept cheap. You can't have workers in those countries that export to the USA coming over all communist and demanding things like living wages and stuff, now can you? It'd put the price of all those imports up.

Not a single one of the matters alleged in the above post is true. Not a single one. None even come remotely close to being factual or true.

It would be so easy to conclude that ignorance is outstanding feature of this post. But, I feel, that might miss something even worse.

For me, the outstanding feature is its bigotry, its hate. I feel sorry for the tragic person who imagined this post into being.
