Too much cheese before bedtime?

You lost Me there so badly that I don't even know what you mean.  LOL.

Eating cheese before sleeping is generally held (and I've often found it to be true) to give one vivid dreams - i.e., having little to do with reality ;)

If I was going to stereotype the sub males I've met (the ones in relationships, at any rate) with a single word, I think I'd choose ... "thoughtful". They seem like a thoughtful bunch, on the whole. I presume this comes from having to consider carefully what one says before opening one's cake-hole, on pain of ... well pain, I suppose.

So yes, I'll go with "thoughtful".

Apart from that Peon chap. He's a complete rotter. There should be a law against him. Probably is, in fact.

On QI, Stephen Fry said there was no truth in that at all. Fry has spoken. You *are* therefore wrong.

I'd say that, too. Pensive, thoughtful, mostly. But there's no doubt that the whiner-sort exists too - though that kind has been far less evident to me in real-life events. It's a big, big question of what to do about that sort.

[:D] *Please* tell me you look like Terry-Thomas, RF. Or Rex Harrison. Bare minimum, Peter Cushing.

Dude it is so unfair you guys got to keep Fry and we got stuck with Hugh Laurie.

Sigh. I'll always have my Jeeves and Wooster DVDs to keep me warm.

Well far be it for me to disagree with my God, but I've found it to be the case many times, so much so that I now avoid cheese after 8pm.

I didn't say there aren't whiners too. What I didn't do was trying to pigeonhole the entire lot as "pussies" in order to rake myself in some attention.

Sorry to disappoint, old man - "shaven headed mass murderer" is the description that most sticks with me. And that was from someone who liked me.

Or, as another mate said; "the sort of bloke who, if he's in a queue in a bank, makes the tellers sweat and hover over the silent alarm".

Are you kidding? Hugh Laurie is *brilliant* as House. I'm really glad you lot gave him a chance to shine.

Indeed so. Fine words, m'colleague.

Although they'll get my Jeeves & Wooster box set when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

No, he is. He is. And the dude who plays Dr. Wilson has been pretty bril in some stage productions too. Good cast and all that....

Still. He doesn't cause quite as much fun on Twitter as his old buddy Mr. Fry does.

PeonForHer -> RE: Why are sub dudes such pussies? (1/31/2011 3:28:56 PM)

That was classy, sure, but Fry was a little too dominating in it. It couldn't be helped - he's a tall man with a foghorn voice. . . . But, yes, it wasn't far from perfect.

I guess you know about all the Sherlock Holmes references? House=Holmes, Wilson=Watson . . . I think the cop on his back was called Moriarty, too . . . ?

lol yeah. Even more fittingly, Moriarty was the name of the dude who said he was a disgruntled ex-patient who shot House the way Moriarty to all the world seemed to have slain Holmes at the waterfall.

I guess what put the bee in my bonnet is having attended an event a couple of weeks ago, at which the subbie dudes mostly stood around sullenly and complained into their drinks about how either nobody was talking to them or how there was nobody worth talking to (an outright lie, I have high standards and there were a number of women who were very intriguing). It wouldn't have been such an issue, but when the woman I attended with left to mingle and I had to do the same, I kept finding myself in the company of dudes behaving like self-loathing schmucks who were too afraid to put anything on the line. When any of them did approach a woman they behaved slavishly, simpering like cartoon characters approaching a scary cartoon king. It's behavior I've seen at several other private events and also the last time I was at a club and it just made me feel like there is an epidemic of wimpish, self-defeating behaviour amongst the subbie dudes.

Online I've also noticed this behavior but I just assume all personality flaws are magnified and exacerbated online. It was really seeing the behavior in public that made me think "Wow. There are a lot of sub dudes out there (a majority in my recent experience) who act like scared little boys in search of mommies."

Between just you and I, let's make the agreement that the online thing doesn't have a lot of importance.  We just don't know if someone who signs up to the site really has a good perspective or not.  Since we have people all across the spectrum here (from zero real life experience all the way up through three decades) we can skip bothering with that a whole lot.

With that said, the above isn't how this would have worked with Me.  Guys standing around complaining that nobody is talking to them?  Wouldn't have noticed it in the least.  I'd have been so busy talking to other people (literally, social butterfly here) that it wouldn't have got My attention.  I will tend to pull folks away from doing the wallflower bit, but another story.

You said there were definitely women there worth talking to.  How come you're not mentioning doing that instead of focusing on the behavior of other males?  Did they all come with tags that said "submissive"?  Was it a specific function that was Femdom/subs specific?

I'm also a bit curious if you're the type to offer encouragement, in the possibility if folks are new or might be a bit introverted?  You don't necessarily have to answer that.  I'm just the curious type.

Mostly because I had come with a close friend and one does not always hang on the arm of one's escort at a party. We're not close to being exclusively involved, but when it came time to mingle it seemed more proper to mingle mostly with other chaps than to peacock around. I certainly drifted from group to group, but it seemed best to devote much of my time to hanging around other men. I also have to confess I felt a kind of morbid amusement at listening to the grumbling for a short time and then going back to hang out with my friend.

As to the second question, with some guys, if I know them at all, I do try to be encouraging. Normally if I don't have anything constructive to say...I say something cutting instead. But my escort was pretty well known in the scene we were moving through and in deference to her I chose to bite my tongue or say polite nothings when I couldn't think of anything positive.

There's the original box set, and the "extended" one (with the "Back & Forth" episode, and other things, whereas the original just has the 4 series episodes and nothing else). I'd chance putting the original on your Amazon wish list, because I did that as a placeholder, a good few years back, when I was broke, and a few months later (presumably triggered by some sort of stock over-order?) they offered it to me at a daft price.

And I mean properly daft. Might not work, but for the sake of a couple of clicks it might be worth a try ...
