Little hint.  There are a number of Dominants who don't particularly like being called "girls".

Just for future reference.

All the girls I’ve ever pulled I’ve done it by been their friends first. I’ve never pulled at a party or a club which may well be down to confidence like has been pointed out.

This is slightly off topic and The Dude does not want to step on the toes of the OP who seems like a very sweet kid but I've always been curious....is this like a really tacky way to put it in the UK? I never asked outright but when I was over there I noticed that English boys usually didn't seem to say this around English girls and, when they did, more often than not whatever girl they were "pulling" would make a "he's sort of an ape but at least he's a cute ape" type face (which I've seen myself more than once) so I was always curious.

I have every reason to want to visit the kink community in the UK.  I've heard such fascinating things that I would like to see first hand.  Not to mention how much I would enjoy meeting certain people from the net.  I've got a long list.

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer: Yes.

Tends to be used by blokes who've never even seen a girl naked either*.

*naked on the net doesn't count.

I need cross-cultural clarification on this.  The "girl" thing or something else?

ziroic -> RE: Should I be here? And what can I do here? (2/1/2011 6:35:14 AM)

Apologies. It’s just a colloquialism around where I live that everybody uses. I’m sorry if it sounds tacky. I don’t think of women (not girls) as objects that I use and pull or whatever. When I said pull, I meant convince them to enter into a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship with me, not, kiss them when they’re drunk in a nightclub or whatever you might have thought.

I literally had no idea anybody thought it was tacky. Everybody used it back home and everybody uses it at university now. Same with "girls" as well actually. I can probably see why being called a girl would be less appreciated around here, though. I definitely didn't and don't mean it in a boyish/laddish sort of way. Those sort of people really do get on my nerves.

Sorry and yeah thanks for the advice on that one.

Eh, I don't know about that. His choice of verb (which is what we're discussing, Lady P) didn't really register with me. Although I did assume he was talking about something casual, rather than an actual relationship.

Perhaps it's a generational thing, Mr Fugue [8D]

About TNG munches, Lady P: the munch I've posted a link to is the London Midweek U35s - we don't have TNG but we do have U35 munches in big cities, although the upper age limits tend to be pretty flexible.

Yes, I'm sure it is. The pendulum's swung back again and the "'girl' or 'woman'" debate doesn't seem to matter much for those in their early twenties. Not here in the UK, anyway.

Anecdote: I do remember a thread many moons ago about how a sub male could fire up a femdom. Somebody suggested, "Just say to her, 'You probably hit like a girl'". 'Brilliant', I thought. 'That'll press the red button on any femdom.'

So, some while later, I met a certain femdom who was in her early twenties and duly used it on her at the earliest opportunity. She looked at me as though I was suffering ever so slightly from cretinism and said, "Of course I hit like a girl. I am a girl."

FR

And, OP, stop going on about your looks. It's bollocks. For my money, you look like a mixture of a young Michael Caine and Eric Stoltz (and I'm not referring to the latter as he was in 'Mask', before you ask).

Haha! I remember that [:D][:D][:D]

Sorry, I was referring to the use of the word "pulled".

No slight intended on the OP, you understand, even if he is a ging-er :) It's just not something I'd say in front of a lady. Sort of term you'd use in front of your male mates in a pub, and even then I probably wouldn't, thinking about it.

*snort*

Reminds me of a lovely interview with Stephen Fry, where the interviewer talked about someone he knew as a friend and defined them as "alright, but a bit bloody theatrical", to which Fry said;

"He works as an actor in the theatre ... he's supposed to be theatrical" :)

RF, bearing in mind that you've disappointed me once already on a related subject, and notwithstanding the different tonsorial arrangements: Please now tell me you look like Stephen Fry.

ziroic -> RE: Should I be here? And what can I do here? (2/1/2011 10:49:03 AM)

Yes, well, despite being ging-er as you eloquently put it I think I respect women just as much as anybody. It's just a turn of phrase. I'm really sorry if it was ridiculously offensive to anybody. But come on, it's obvious I'm not the sort of guy who's sexist and gets women drunk in bars then "pulls" them before boasting to his mates about it, isn't it? Which is probably the mental image you have upon me saying that. It's pretty obvious I meant pull as in make them my girlfriend, which isn't demining at all, is it?

So I'd appreciate it if it was dropped now because it really wasn't the crux of what I was trying to say. And I am of course grateful for all the swift and good advice but I really, really don’t like hearing that I’m disrespectful when I’m not. Just because I’m making a thread about my submissive tendencies doesn’t mean I’m not going to argue with that, frankly.

But anyway, if it’s such a big deal I’ll delete that post or edit it out. To be honest I think it’s causing more confusion about usage of language than what sort of person I am.

Thanks.

It's all right, ziroic. I don't think anyone's really that bothered. And I don't think anyone cares about your ging-er status, either.

Whoa there Sparky! Like I said, I wasn't having a pop at you, or criticising you. It's merely joshing.

Try not to be so sensitive eh? Makes for a happier time all round. Plus I don't get off on kicking puppies ;)

I've already made it clear I look like a psychotic mass-murderer, so no.

Hang on I'll mail you a pic - you're starting to obsess and it's slightly worrying :) But no emailing back "BLLUURRRGGHHHHH!" by return, ok? :)

Got it and replied.

Well, well! Not that I'm any great judge of these things, but you're not a bad-looking lad either! Mind, I'd steer clear of you at the times of full-moon. ;-)

Thanks for the generous assessment, but I detest my "looks". You're a charitable man though, and it's noted ... your reward will be great in heaven ...

... fuck all down here on earth, mind, but great in heaven ;)
