I believe in them and I guess it depends on the person/situation. Looking back on my last relationship..NO WAY! He simply vanished, to reappear for a booty call.

from my previous relationships my ex might get a second chance but he knows he would get a massive to-do-list before I would bother to date him again...as he made many empty promises years ago and I would let him fullfill all of those at first before I would bother to take him serious again...

apart from that so far my experience is that I would have been better off not to bother about giving a second chance when I look back at the guys where I gave a second chance...so I am inclined to say I am unlikely to give a second chance anymore by now...he has to be very special indeed to get a second chance and thats rare. So I think it is better to listen to your head than your heart when it is about giving a second chance.
