From a marketing/advertising standpoint, I think you'd be incorrect.  The whole concept of which is to get the consumer's attention long enough to get them interested in the product.  Not that the gimmick used is related to the product itself.

The song is terrible, the video is worse. The only good thing about this is that it puts BDSM in the mainstream.

here is a video by 30 seconds to mars....its quite long, and im not quite sure about it, but imo its a bit more tasteful than rihanna's and the music is much less annoying

just wondering what everyones opinion of it is?

Visually, I liked it very much. Nice use of props. However it is not to my musical taste which is only a personal reflection of my taste and not their music! Oh and I ended up watching the uncensored and uncut version instead of the one you posted.

A much better video than Rhianna IMO.

While I do think she looked good...Rihanna's "S&M" represented Spaghetti & Meatballs more than anything I can think of having to do with the actual lifestyle.

Rihanna....not really a fan of hers. And I didn't not like the S&M video, but honestly I don't really like most videos the people that come up with the videos...BLAH!
However, I've been listening to some of her songs, and I have to say that maybe she does have some....tendencies (since I'm more of a lyrical person then a video person here are a few examples....)

Thank you LS, this is an unexpected bonus and makes up for the loss of s dinner. Mjnd you earlier this evening, watching a music channel, I nearly threw up thanks to them playing the op offensive clip with this over made up, under talented whore prancing about almost begging for a genuine scene with a riding crop or a public demonstration of her whoreish nature with a group of male sycophants.

I was reading earlier today that Rhianna may have ripped off pictures on her video from a well known photographer.If that is true,then Rhianna should pay the price.Clearly from an ethical stand point,that is wrong.However,I do really wonder where most of the frustration from this video is coming from.If someone dosen't like the video,the song or Rhianna,thats fine.However,I feel the biggest uproar about her video isn't any of that.Instead,it is a video that is about "S&M" and the title says it all.No,this isn't some indepth,find out who you are,type of video.Rather,it is a song you play at a party or a club.Still,it is an interesting video that is getting mainstream media attention,good or bad.Myself personally,I like the video and the song.It is certainly making lots of heads turn,no doubt.I just hate it when the mainstream media try to take anything that has to do with BDSM and turn it into something negative.If people don't want those outside of this lifestyle to view BDSM abnormal,then those who do live this lifestyle should step forth and speak the truth anout BDSM.That when done right,BDSM can be an amazing experience and way of life.
