this girl was wondering why people in the vampire community don't like people in the gorean community? her Owner said that He was surprised that she found Him and there arent that many differences in the way He is compared to this girls former Owners. she needs to know the answer to this question because she needs to know how to change herself to better please Him. however when she asks His answer is that its just the way it is. she is hoping that by posting this that she will be better able to understand and start making progress to change herself.

I know people in the vampire community who draw heavily on the Gor novels for their dynamics.  I don't think there's much, if any, evidence to suggest that the two are mutually exclusive.  I doubt it's a "community" issue and more an individual one.

Mabye because vampires don't like poorly spoken third person speech that shouts out, "Look at me, look at me! I'm so humble" ?

Oh, and what did you do that you are being punished? And why are we all part of your punishment? Just curious...

Most likely because each believes the other to be a bunch of ridiculous looking roleplayers acting out the parts of fantasy books that turn them on.

And they're right.

He actually sounds pretty wise.

You cannot change it, nor learn much from it other than people make unsound judgements of others based on knowing very little about an individual(classic case in this thread). It happens in everything, not just the vamp/gor part of society - but all of it.

Seriously?
Where did you get that she is 'being punished' in this thread? And she never asked you to change her, she asked a question so she could try to understand something she didn't so she could move forward.

There is no community, just individuals who pull whatever they like out of individual books. Beyond that, it doesn't matter. If he needs you to change your style of doing things, then it's his job to teach you the new ways. It's your job to learn them or explain why the old way is superior and convince him of that.

lol me?

Nah, just one of those things where the more I learned about it the more ridiculous it seemed. I had a friend who was a hardcore Gorean slave and I'd ask how she could stand being treated like that and she'd answer because she's mastered...at least until she couldn't stand being treated like that any more and left.

XD

Really I have no issue with playacting a vampire (redefined as a mortal with no weakness to sun, garlic, crosses or holy water, who drinks blood for fun rather than nourishment) or playacting a kajira (redefined as a legally free individual in a TPE relationship who actually has human rights but might willingly choose not to use them) other than, of course, the fact that it looks ridiculous to me, but that's a matter of personal opinion. I mean, I think porn movies look ridiculous. My opinion is obviously not law.

What makes you think they don't? I know people who identity as vampires and those in the GOR community and I have never heard this.

her Owner said that He was surprised that she found Him and there arent that many differences in the way He is compared to this girls former Owners.
?

she needs to know the answer to this question because she needs to know how to change herself to better please Him.
Why, is he unhappy with something you are doing? If so ask him what it is and change that. Not rocket science.

however when she asks His answer is that its just the way it is.
Well he is right if he is implying that you can't change how others perceive certain situations.

she is hoping that by posting this that she will be better able to understand and start making progress to change herself.

What are you trying to change yourself into?

Because the dorks at the sci fi convention always hate the dorks at the Ren Faire and vice versa.

I don't understand how the supposed animosity between vampires and
goreans has any bearing on the relationship between you and your owner.
Its like saying I can please my vegetarian Master better if I understood why
the meat and potato lovers despise him.
Apparently there are qualities you each possess that are attractive to the
other, so build from there.

@OP

it seems many people join a group to dislike the all other groups.
what they do is best..the rest sucks.

and ofcourse there are groups...that are harder to understand or to deal with then others.

Euhm... you mean until the Free Woman in the house couldn't stand to have her around anymore and kicked her out of the house...

I don't feel myself qualified to express an opinion on who the real true master of a house is...

I do know however, that when you're talking about keeping pets -which is about the statues a kajira has in a Gorean household- either the master or the mistress of the house can easily kick out a dog they can't control, and either one of them doing so doesn't give any indication as to who is in charge of the house in general...

Ah well silly me. I am sure that the pets in my house, especially the dogs, generally know who is in charge.

Gor vs Vamp
John Norman vs Bram Stoker

No contest.. John Norman would kick Bram Stoker's ass but Stoker remains the much better author.

Personally, I loved the Gor books around age 14. By the time I was 18, they bored me.

But, I'd pay good money to see an encounter between the Tuchuks and some of those sparkly vampires Hollywood is perpetrating.
