mnottertail -> What up GOP? (2/9/2011 9:46:20 AM)

Well, the verdant right has had about a month there with their house  majority, what the fuck have they been doing?

Tort reform...MASSIVE healthcare savings we've heard for lo these many years.......Where's the bill?

Balancing the budget, cutting waste and streamlining government and reducing our deficit.  Wheres the bill?

Jobs Jobs Jobs. Wheres the bill?

Cutting and trimming entitlements and taxes.  Wheres the bill?

Ask yourself this question, is our deficit bigger than it was yesterday?

DomKen -> RE: What up GOP? (2/9/2011 9:51:51 AM)

They've been busy trying to pass new anti abortion bils and to repeal HCR, all of which are pure theater to keep the douchebag party folks happy.

Hell, they even just blew a pair of rules suspension votes. Apparently they forgot to get a whip count before they scheduled the votes.

Since the right doesn't have a super-majority in the House the premise of your post is false.

mnottertail -> RE: What up GOP? (2/9/2011 9:57:45 AM)

Oh, my fault, I didnt know that the majority then, (my apologies) were restrained from introducing bills or setting the agenda.

Adjusted premise of OP.  It looks strikingly similar in context, though.

What difference would that make?

Since the House has no procedures for a filibuster there can be no such thing as a super-majority in that body.

Since when does it require a super-majority to introduce a bill?

mnottertail -> RE: What up GOP? (2/9/2011 11:02:58 AM)

Right outta the Pledge:

"With common-sense exceptions for seniors, veterans, and our troops, we will roll back government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels, saving us at least $100 billion in the first year alone and putting us on a path to balance the budget and pay down the debt," the Pledge states.

Yet last week, Republicans unveiled a budget blueprint that cuts just $32 billion through the remainder of fiscal year 2011.

They are responsible for the biggest deficit in history, and they will borrow and spend as they always have.

As I have repeated again and again and again:

It is irresponsibly premature to accuse the conservatives (rinos, republicans, neo-cons, and nutsuckers) of fiscal responsibility now or at some future time; simultaneously, it is irresponsibly inaccurate to accuse them of fiscal responsibility in the past.

WORD!!!!

mnottertail -> RE: What up GOP? (2/9/2011 1:24:52 PM)

Hey!!!! How we doin' here guys, you're taking back the country and ending the deficit and putting it to work was all you were on about, and you ain't got one fuckin word to say now, or nothing to do?

LaTigresse -> RE: What up GOP? (2/9/2011 2:08:09 PM)

I know the Iowa right has been all busy with their homophobic anti gay marriage crap. And the new old Gov is trying to get rid of the rail thing and cut a bunch of education funding. Making people happy, one fat cat at a time!

TheHeretic -> RE: What up GOP? (2/9/2011 8:25:31 PM)

Sorry, Ron, but so far, I'm too busy laughing at all the libs who've been thrown completely off their talking points by the sunset clause in the Patriot Act starting to work its magic.

I think this could be a very interesting Congress. There are new dynamics in play, the forces of change are rumbling in the Republican party. It's going to take them a while to settle down. It should be fun to watch, and might even be useful. I know. I'm just too optimistic about revolutions.

Uh, Ron? Weren't you guys going to be ending the War in Iraq back in '06 ('07, technically) before Obama ran on ending it in '08?

Uh, I don't know what you guys you refer to, I was against the invasion of Iraq at the start.  Obama made some runs at it, and as I remember the right started immediately bleating about why he has got to talk to McChrystal and start making moves to shut down Gitmo and yadda yadda yadda, and I further recollect that Obama was the guy that was talking about it and not the Democratic House and Senate.

HEY, BUT WHAT THE FUCK!!!! Now the republican house can get us out of Iraq, now!!!!!  Think of the money savings, and BTW, I didn't vote for Obama, and it is well documented out here from early primaries time. Said I wasn't voting for him and I didn't.

So, now when are the conservatives gonna flush this toilet called Iraq they created?

mnottertail -> RE: What up GOP? (2/10/2011 6:37:41 AM)

So, everybody, are you in more debt than you were 4 days ago?

Just think of the forming of the united states.

I bet the afghans and iraqis are happy too now that they have the freedom to "ask permission" to get a drug from the drug store and own a gun!

with freedom like that who needs slavery.

Louve00 -> RE: What up GOP? (2/10/2011 7:11:37 AM)

Yea, Fla's new governor Rick Scott (a tea party dude) thinks we'll solve our problems by cutting back more on education and by making police officers, teachers, and other state and county workers contribute 5% of their paychecks to their retirements funds.  New employees will no longer be eligible for a traditional retirement, but can contribute to a 401K in the private sector. He also wants to end cost-of-living adjustments for retirement accounts.  Looks like Florida students and retirees are going to be suffering...so far.
