Toppingfrmbottom -> So we went to the gym we saw, we did, we did not conqure, but least we did see lol. (2/9/2011 7:51:00 PM)

he had us do elliptical for 5 mins for a cross country ski machine an 5 for another then we followed him around an he showed us the other machines, then I did a few repetitions on the ab coaster thingie, then went back to the elliptical.

he wants us coming every day but dad has already said no, that's to much driving and to much gas, since it's kind of inconvenient to get to.

I am incredibly weak after 5  minutes of Elliptical and 5 of cross country ski I was literally about to fall, and I told him I am going to fall, because I already had started to 2 other times, and he said ok sit down, and I started crying, which was very embarrassing, but he said not to be embarrassed, but I was cause I hate crying in front of people.

he said no need to be embarrassed frustration will happen, it's ok to be frustrated, and he's proud that I am here doing something even if I get so weak from it. So for right now I don't think I am going to worry about doing the whole circuit thing, because there's a system of machines and it's in a circuit and you start with one and go in a complete system, following a red and green light change, I am just gonna do the 2 elliptical machines, and then maybe some of the ab cruiser machines, that ones gonna be hard cause you kneel, place your elbows in the padded elbow spots and pull yourself in an arc using your elbow's. And then marching in place, keeping my knee's high. How ever when I have a little more stamina and am not weak kneed to the point of falling after 10 minutes, we'll in corporate more.

And happiest of all a Golden retriever rescue needs volunteers, and they're super close to us, according to the guy who called me today, and I have an orientation Sunday at 1 to see the place and learn about volunteering!
yay!

TFB, up until the point that you said your daddy nixed the whole idea, I was thinking "Great, she's finally doing something!"  OK, so instead, look at options.  First, is the gym on a bus route?  If it is, there you go.  Keep it up.....even if your daddy doesn't want to.  And btw.....what about his martial arts stuff?  Doesn't that "waste" gas?  How come he seems to be okay with something he wants, but not when it's you?  Like we all said in the other thread you started...don't rely on him for any support, since it doesn't appear that he's prepared to give you much, if any.

Hearing about your physical struggles, I feel for you, hun.  It's possible that the trainer is just moving too fast for your body.  And I don't say that just because of your weight.  It's alot of things, but one of the biggest issues is the fact that you've been so sedentary...you even admitted that much yourself.  Did he not know that little bit of info?  It will do no good at all if you hurt yourself, it will only add to a sense of disappointment over the whole thing.

I've done the gym thing too, but I didn't do the weights, I stuck to a treadmill and rowing machine....I have a bad back, so situps are absolutely out of the question.  I was working more on burning fat than bulking up, however that will happen too.  And remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so don't be surprised if it doesn't appear that you're losing any weight....I don't rely on scales, but rather the fit of my clothing.  It shows in dropping sizes and better fit.

Maybe you can do the gym every other day, and then walk on the off days?  Give your body time to recover, because you're going to be sore..that's a given!  And make sure that you stay hydrated...drink, drink, drink!!!!

Kudos for starting to better yourself....keep it up, whether "daddy" wants to help you or not!  And have fun with the dogs...retrievers are alot of fun!

Hey -
It's pretty common for people new to exercise to have an emotional reaction. I've heard it said that we store our emotions in our muscle memory, and exercise lets it go. I don't know how much of that is hogwash and how much might be based in fact, but certainly it's not unheard of ... You're not alone.

Good for you for getting out there! YAY!

Best,
sunshine

my real dad not ageplay, we're all going at once, my mom and I are members, and my dad us her guest.

I still go 3xs a week, just not every day like George wanted.

Yup I told him I do absolutly nothing at home and I don't think going from do nothing to a heart rate of 154 and tons of activity all at once was gonna be possible, and he praised me for getting into the gym, and taking the first steps. and I told him while on the machines my legs felt wobbly an like I would fall and he assured me I wouldn't, which was partially true, I didn't fall on the machine, I started nearly falling once I got off the machine and took some steps.

No he just said our warm up before our work out would be 5 mins on the Elliptical an 5 on the cross country ski machine.

Ironically the ab coaster reminded me a lil bit of sexabit lol , but I kept that thought to myself hehe.

And then he said look at me, an I was inside like noooooo not that , cause it's so hard for me to meet an hold eyecontact when I am embarrased, and feeling vonurable I just wanna look at the floor lol. But I sucked it up an looked him in the eye.

Thank you holly:) today was fun for some parts , on the cross country ski machine I kept"ski'ing backwards instead of forward because I was pushing with wrong arm and that made ya go backwards, an I couldn't get the hang of going forward at first.which was pretty funny.

Great news TFtB! Hey, 3 times a week is 3x's more than you were exercising just a couple days ago, so that's fabulous! Does it sound too corny or mom like to say I'm proud of you? Well I am. Good job! Great news, already said it but it deserves to be said again.

TFB - THAT IS AWESOME seriously, you should be very proud of yourself.   You are doing more than i am  blah!!!!    Make sure on the days you don't go, walk around the block or something, just to get yourself moving on days you aren't at the gym.  This will help keep your stamina up so when you go back, you will get stronger every day.  Also be sure you are drinking lots of water -- clean water.  This should help with your wobbliness.

You were right to tell him you will do what you can.  That's how you should gauge it because you don't want to overdo it.  Again, Kudos to you!!

Good for you! In the beginning, it's better that you don't go every day, because on your "off" days, your body will be busy building muscle tissue, and it does that while you're at rest. Usually you have to tough it out through the first three workouts (and one is already out of the way!) and then you'll feel it start to get easier and easier, and soon you'll be popping off 30 minutes like it's nuthin'. [:)]

Sounds like you have a good, compassionate trainer, that's great!
