I dont use sharp knives, but the reaction is often the same.
Wide eyes, rapid breathing, they begin to sweat in anticipation....Gotta love it.

You use a 'dull knife'?? WOW. That is a LOT more dangerious than a sharp knife, as a dull knife may have nicks in it or worse which is defiantly hazardious [potentially deadly if you are not carefull].

I have done knife play hundreds of times with partners who ALWAYS used sharp, very sharp knives, dangers, swords, etc. One even went as far as shaving a path of hair from his arm to show me just how sharp his knife was {mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm}. I was in love, with the knife. Its so erotic and shows a LOT of trust on my part and on my patner's part, sa they trust em NOT to move or jump and I truth that person NOT to cut or injure me. I can fall asleep very contently with a blade across my back, down my legs or any other number of places.
I will stick with very sharp blades, tyvm.

I dont use knives with dings or nicks. If I'm not using a sharp one I'm not going to use one that has damage to the blade. The point for Me, is to not cut just give the impression I am.

Safety and a clean enviroment are the two most important things when playing in My dungeon.

I agree with the sharp knives- if I don't KNOW exactly what I'm working with, it's not worth taking the risk.  Unless you KNOW your blade is sharp, you don't know exactly where it is or isn't sharp, exactly what edge might catch where, or how the blade will degrade over time and use.

While cutting a girl isn't foremost on my list of enjoyed pleasures, it can be fun from time to time. I have brushed the edge along the jugular and sternocleidomastoid, pillowed the flesh on the breasts with its tip, cut tongues and marked the ass and thighs to appear like claw slashes. I would share a photo, but the powers that be would no doubt have a problem with that.

The whole "dull is dangerious" thing applies to woodworking, not fleshworking..  I know a bit about sharp, when I do woodworking, I sharpen my blades on a 15,000 grip Sharpton cermic stone, most kitchen knives are done on about an 800 grit grinder at best!

I love knives. I even had the luxury of experiencing a knife play scene with Jonesie, a nationally recognized BDSM persona, and leader in the BR community.

I can understand why some people dislike them though. Sharp things, things that cut, things that make you bleed usually freak out a lot of people.

There is certainly something hot about knife play.  Starting a with that precious flower all relaxed and then with a careful prick here, a gentle caress there and things begin getting interesting, the blood begins to flow, the petals engorge and slowly more is revealed and the process begins anew as the nectar begins to flow.  Only then does the tip of the blade begin to slip inside at first tentatively and then as the flower continues to open, the blade slowly disappears from view into that now radiant flower.

Yep, something about knife play is just hot.

Holy crap, I think I just orgasmed.

Eh hem...

Hello There,
I have a no permanent marks rule so deep cuts are not possible in scenes with me. As far as scratching my skin or poking through small places with knives I love knife play and the fantasy's potential threat. Having to stay still and completely trust the person wielding the knife causes all kinds of emotions in me. It's definitely one of those love/hate things for me.

When I first started knife play I went and got my tetanus shot updated as being cut by metal can give you lock jaw.
I'd  also recommend the knife cleaned with alcohol right before it's used every time to prevent infection.

For us... depends on who's holding the knife. Used a 307 year old katana to cut the blindfold, bra and panties off of my wife before she decided she liked my end of the riding crop better. I still think that was the one that did it.

I do knife play but for the fear factor never any cutting. I just got a lovely tanto from Cold Steel and I plan to try it out this weekend. My sub doesn't know it but he's going to be raped  at knifepoint and yes its all consensual, I just never told him the where or when.

Knives? Love them. Regular knife play can be fun, and combining them with electric play (as in electrifying the knife) is even more intense. Two favorites right now: one tanto for psych and regular play, and a smaller CRKT all metal for electric play. Did a very intense scene a few years ago in Alabama after giving a class on electrical play to a group, safe but very fun for the participant and still talked about.

LOL I've only done knife play once, (so far), and the main thing I remember is exactly that!! Breathless isn't a euphamism, it's a factual description.

I'd love to explore more knife play, but not all doms are willing to go there.

Using the tip of the blade, tracing a roughly 1/4 inch wide Cletic knotwork down the inner thighs, then using a soft, rubber 50 tail down the length of the scrapes... using just the weight of the falls themselves... repeating the same thing on the arches of her feet.... the inner side of the upper arms... soft, slow movements... then suddenly plunge the entire length fot he blade into the bed right next to her face...

removing it from the bed, dragging the tip down from the tip of the nose... across her lips, between her breasts, circling the navel, the length of the slit her labia make... burying it against between her thighs, jerking her down until she is pressed firmly against the hilt... atttch nipple clamps to her nipples, drawing light chains down from them to the hilt, using them to secure a small vibrator to the hilt, then just sit back and watch the festivities... eyes locked on hers... wrists strapped abover her head, ankles secured tot he corners of the foot of the bed...

Just sit there, sharpening another, larger head, then start shaving small curls of paper with the new blade...

Nah, I'm not sadistic much...

Love love love love love my blades.  I was lucky enough to have had a wonderful Mentor who taught me knife play.  It's the high from it, the knowledge that at any time one wrong move and blood will flow, hell one right move and it will too ;)  It's having that submissive so caught up in the scene that when they hear it sliding from it's sheeth, or clicking open by their ear that they just freeze up, eyes go wide, you can see the pulse jump and then take off at a gallop in their throat.  Men especially...*shivers* nothing quite like the look on a mans face when he's tied down spread eagle and you get up between his legs, running the very sharp tip up the inside of his thigh and using the flat of the blade to move his balls out of your way.  Delicious.
I've collected knives and blades for years and am known for always having at least one on my person at times.  They are a sensual object to me.  It's fun at a party to pull a blade from between your breasts and look around at how many suddenly perk up and can't take their eyes off of it as you turn it this way and that, flashing the light at their faces and around the room.
The absolute to date best knife scene I've ever had was at a party and this young lady ended up being manhandled by her Owner because she kept crawling closer and closer to where my boy was cuffed.  We were having a very intense knife scene and he was bleeding from several shallow cuts on his abdomen and chest.  At one point she actually got between me and him, sliding her hands up his legs trying to reach the cuts.  I was startled, but found it pretty funny when I asked her if she wanted some too.  She actually growled at me lol.  Her Owner had to pull her back by her collar and trap her between his legs to keep her still, he also later apologized and told me that she's an absolute knife slut.
Personally, I like it when they want to bleed...but even without cutting knives just flat out do it for me.

I look at dull knives the same way I look at a dull razor blades, I am NOT gonna have it against any of my sensative areas [or any other place] because too much of a chance of getting hurt, or worse. I have never had a kitchen knife used, always dagers, swords or other high quality knives that are well taken care of and sharp.

Knife play is not about 'cutting' its about trust as much as about sensation play.

{is it getting hot in here, or is it just me... }

Knives are on my list of "musts" in terms of BDSM play.... someone how has a hard limit with knives is not someone for me. Someone who isn't a bit wary of my knives is also someone I don't play with -- you can be excited and turned on but still wary and I think that's a wise thing to be.

That said I do not do cuttings or any blood letting with them.

I use them for fear play and for sensations.

They are weapons and tools, not to be used lightly and I learned to use them by apprenticing to someone in NYC I knew who did knife play including cutting and blood letting but I'm not comfortable with that style of play. I also had a relationship based solely on knife play for several months -- it was a great way to practice and develop my ability to handle it safely.

Rose,

A knife is a tool and a craftsman chooses the right one for the job and puts the appropriate edge on it for what he seeks to do.

As someone who teaches sharpening to the craftsman who use the sharpest tools, woodworkers, I have a modicum of knowledge about edges and what makes them work and when and why you put various levels of edges onto a blade.  I can wax eloquently about the differences between Arkansas Novaculite stones, Japanese and Chinese water stones, diamond stones, aluminium oxide, and ceramic stones and when to use each and why, I just might have enough knowledge to not be speaking out of my ass.

If "dull" is so dangerous, why do we not put an edge on handcuffs, speader bars, and everything else we use?  Dull has many meanings, when I say a blade is sharp, the edge is less than a micron across and capable of pulling a shaving of less than a thousandths of an inch off of the hardest hardwood.

You are welcome to play however you want just don't spread things as gospel that are anything but.  There are many reasons one might use a "dull" blade, just because you cannot fathom it doesn't mean others cannot as well.
