" other peoples money against the peoples will are moving in from out of state"

For the peoples will, of course. As expressed in the election. It's only the will of  a minority mob that is being expressed in the street. The will of the people was expressed in the election.

Got it now?

Thats the whole thing, this is what Walker ran on, its what he promised the voters and he won the election handily.

Once again, we are left to wonder if you are lying, or simply have no idea what you're talking about. Walker was elected to balance the budget, not bust unions. He promised to cut the pay of government employees, and that's fine. Destroying unions was never part of the bargain, and that's what most people see as the main issue here.

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 10:13:11 AM)

The best any of these pathetic libtards can do is attack the messenger and make spurious or otherwise irrelevant comments... [;)]

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 10:14:04 AM)

Once again, I am left to wonder if you are lying, or simply have no idea what you're talking about.

As far as I know, Governor Walker has not threatened to destroy any union. I don't think he has even mentioned decertification, or firing, although I certainly wish he would. These de facto illegal strikes are hurting the children.....

Certainly the proposed legislation does not seek to prevent collective bargaining, or to decertify any unions.

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 10:16:39 AM)

A fun video

quote:

Dispatched by state Senate leadership Friday, Senate sergeant-at-arms Ted Blazel and an officer from the Wisconsin State Patrol knock on the door at the Monona home of Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller in an attempt to bring him into the Capitol and obtain a quorum. Senate Democrats walked out of the chamber Thursday to try to delay a vote on Gov. Walker's bill that would strip public employees of collective bargaining rights. There was no answer at Miller's door though a car was in the driveway.

During the video some lone stupid libtard keeps shouting from the street, "This is not what democracy looks like" obviously unaware that its actually directly from the state constitution...

You cant make this kind of comedy up.

Now I'm all confuzzled, Panda. To hear Tazzy tell it, Wisconsin was a paradise of fiscal perfection, until those baa-aaad Republicans took control. Didn't all the troubles start with them? A month ago?

Hundreds of people protesting on the sidewalk in front of your home would probably be called a "mob", no?

As the reporter said... a peaceful protest.

There was no "mob".

Wow, Rich. Where did I say all that? I didnt. But way to go putting words into my posts. I pointed out some facts. Guess the facts hurt.

TheHeretic -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 11:00:47 AM)

Wasn't that the point of your snips, Tazzy? Were they maybe some pertinent facts that your source neglected to include?

tazzygirl -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 11:09:15 AM)

My "snips"? I asked a question as to the actual intent of this thread. If the intent was to complain about how brutish the supposed mob was, then what I found would have had no bearing. But since it was all over money, the money Walked stated he didnt have... to later find out it was because he had already spent it...

Im rather surprised at you over all this.

I can't imagine why, Tazzy. These public sector unions have been on my radar for some time. I'm the guy who wants to deal with part of CA's budget crisis by replacing prison guards with the National Guard.

tazzygirl -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 11:15:05 AM)

I have no love for unions either. But right is right. If he wants to break them, then be man enough to say so. Dont "play politics", and thats all this is.. a game.

Collective Bargainin *IS* one of those important corner stones that make up the concept of a union. Would be like 'banning the 2nd Amendment' in conservative terms. This guy is trying to attack a core concept that is important to many Americans. You may disagree with it, but that is probably because your not in a union, nor have really understood the concept that is at issue in that state.

You never read the Affordable Care Act or the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, but argued against both for the past year. So you'll excuse me if I don't believe you've actually read the proposed legislation directly 'from the horse's mouth'. Since you don't seem to demonstrate a reasonable knowledge of collective bargaining, how would you know if it was spoken about in the legislation? Please post a link to your source.

Bull. Many fields require their employees to take seminars and classes to stay current.

They're expected to teach at a very high standard. That is no mean feat.

According to Eliza's link in the other thread, 20% of high school graduates are functionally illiterate.

Then you have no idea what a person with a good degree can make. As I said above I have a BS in math, required for HS math teachers, and was making just over 100k/year until I got sick with 10 weeks of vacation a year. And my vacation was when I wanted not designated by someone else.

And you think that's anywhere near the average for someone with a 4 year degree?

Mandated working hours well in excess of 8 hours, required taking of work home and dealing with 30+ kids who know the teacher can do little to nothing to maintain order in the classroom.

30? Check your facts. In Wisconsin, the average class size is 13-16 students per teacher.

I take it you want to shift the burden of paying for guards to the DODefense budget then? When the Nat'l Guard gets activated, they recieve regular Army pay vs getting paid just on their Guard weekends.

When I left teaching for the private sector, it was for a 50% raise in salary (26K to 39K). This was not atypical for my colleagues in the field who left.

No offense, Hillwilliam, but that was quite a while ago.

Similar legislation is being considered here in TN but it isn't getting any press.

TN is a "Right to Work State" which means you don't have to join a union to work. It is probably not a coincidence that we are one of the half dozen or so states that are NOT in serious financial trouble at this time.

It is a coincidence. Texas has the least unionized public workforce and is in the worst ttrouble of any state.

TheHeretic -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 1:22:28 PM)

I believe who orders them activated, determines who pays for them, Hlen. If we are into this sort of radical action, though, a little paper shuffling in accounting isn't going to cost more than paying prison guards for extra "walk-time," to go through metal detectors and make sure nobody is delivering another cell phone to Manson.
