That's absolutely true, it WAS a long time ago. The FACT is that beginning teachers made less than a beginninng garbage man. Wanna bet it hasn't changed a hell of a lot?

You know, this whole comparison is apples and oranges, not to mention kind of elitist. Sanitation workers have a very physical and dangerous job, and it seems to me that you are implying that they shouldn't be making as much as a starting teacher just because they may not be as educated. How many people would really want to be sanitation workers, having to lift and haul all day long, every day regardless of weather? Not to mention the danger:
http://wasteage.com/mag/waste_garbage_collection_rated/

As to how much they make, here are the national stats:

Wanna also bet that the brightest and best teachers get the hell out for LARGE raises to work in the private sector and not have to deal with little gang scumlets and educrats that have never seen the inside of a classroom?
I would think that it depends on what their degree is in. When I graduated with a BS, most jobs available in my field to recent graduates were not only minimum wage, but seasonal to start. Had I wanted to teach high school, the starting pay would have been a hell of a lot better.

I did what you asked. The word union never appears in that PDF.

Well, I said they didn't advertise. I've got the automatic deduction schedule of dues from the union's website. It'll just have to do.

FR In general, not aimed at last person who posted, whoever it is

It boggles my mind, that people are so dismissive of public sector workers, and who think because they are private sector think their shit dont stink.
Looking down on them because they dont have "education" or make oodles of money. Money is NOT what defines you as a worthwhile person. Well maybe it does to republicants. but man what an ugly way of looking at the world. Its running rampant and seems to be getting popular
I guess ignorance really is comforting to so many public sector so called "educated" and" financial elitists"

That always disheartens me too, perhaps because I'm the son of a teacher. Also, I work with a lot of public-sector folks, and some of them have amazed me with their smarts and dedication.

Ive done private and public and im a sposed capitalist, but I see so much direct manipulation of republican working and middle class that believe there lives arent being affected by banks n insurance companies bleeding them dry, and appplauding them for making as much money as they can. Putting someone down because they arent after the money dream is pathetic

What the hell are you talking about, Lucy??? This isn't about people looking down on public sector workers! It's about public sector workers looking down on the people they were hired to serve!

jlf1961 -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 5:09:21 PM)

Some of you republicans want to explain why the three unions that supported walker are immune form this law?

Seems to me that what is good for one should be good for all.

TheHeretic -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 5:12:37 PM)

Shhh. We'll deal with them later. Right now is divide and conquer.

Beg

Didn't think you would be able to.

Just Richie running off his mouth with nothing to support it.

But at least I gave you a fair shot at it.

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 5:13:17 PM)

Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh.... could say that goes for jlf too. Might go a bit farther though, and insist on their credit card info if they really want us to teach classes

Really Richie?

Is this what you have to stoop to?

You're quite a man!

You could also try reading the link I posted for Yngblk, earlier.

I did.

Doesn't change the question I asked which you apparently don't have the balls to respond to.

And I even asked nicely, something which I should have learned long ago is wasted on you.

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 5:29:53 PM)

Why a Scott Walker type for president?

Because the current presidents own treasury secretary admits that the presidents budget is "unsustainable".

Video

Were we to elect a true leader such as Scott Walker he might have balls enough to take these budget battles by the horns, and win a few of them.

Lucylastic -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 5:34:01 PM)

Leader? not in any non american dictionary ...a leader inspires respect, among more than his butt lickers.
FAIL
You gots more chance of becoming the popes third wife
OMG you guys are hysterical,

It's a matter of the source of the question, Lucy. For you, sure. For "tits," the hospitality pig, not so much.

Though I do have a better offer pending, so maybe it won't be quick.
