What's got you riled up over abortion/contraception?

Probably because she has the body parts that people like you, who don't have the parts, are trying to regulate.

You make the assumption that everyone who is capable of reproduction is capable of being responsible.

If God had been smart enough to only turn on ovulation when the person became educated and responsible enough, there would be no problem.

And there are plenty of people who do not have the finances who are good parents and plenty of people who have a ton of money who are crappy parents. So you say anyone with enough money should be allowed to be a parent based on that alone?

Is this guy Burton a holy roller or something?
I don't want my tax dollars paying for any of this stuff!
I don't want congressmen or senators even talking about abortion. It's none of the govt's business one way or the other.
If holy rollers get into public office they should keep their religious opinions to themselves.
They need to be comming up with ways to spend less money not more.

Someone else you never heard of Popeye?

Pretty amazing for someone who posts so frequently on a political forum.

Dan Burton is the hypocritical dipshit who called Clinton a scumbag because he cheated on his wife.

But then it turned out Danny had fathered a child after cheating on his wife.

Rule, then they're both scumbags, so what's the problem?
And yes I've "heard" of Burton but haven't delved into his personal life.
Do you have index cards on all these guys?
Oh yeah, Dan Burton comes up here all the time! "What, some senator from Indiana had a child out of wedlock? How did I EVER miss that one!"
Rule, what kind of car does this Burton guy drive? I bet it's a Buick, right?
You need to get out of the Mancave more often and check out the real world.

It's insanely obvious that she was referring to the fact that as a taxpayer, she has to shell out money for programs and whatnot to try to compensate for other people that are unable or unwilling to raise their own children.

Precisely.

And where did I ask for that right?  As I clearly said, I don't care who does and does not procreate... when, where, why, or how.  My personal philosophy is that people should be responsible for themselves and the results of the decisions they make, those for whom they have a moral obligation to be responsible for, and anyone else for whom they voluntarily wish to assume responsibility.

I do, however, wish to have the right to have a say in where my money gets spent, and in the society that my hard work contributes to.

So when does someone else's right to procreate trump my right to what happens to the money I earn?

By the way, Lucy, you might want to work on composing your posts a bit better.  I'm sorry, but...

...in no way, shape, or form, even remotely gets across the point that I (or any other person you wish to describe as "Neanderthal") will never have control over any other person's body.

I agree it is irresponsible for adults to have children if they cannot afford it, but is it right to punish the children for that? Taking away funding, while it does harm the parents, it harms the children more.

Is it right for the parent to demand that everyone else share in the burden of their choice? I had nothing to do with a couple having a child. I did not force them to have sex, to go through with the pregnancy, and to decide to keep it. Yet I am expected to make sacrifices for someone else and their decisions. I am suddenly at the whims and mercy of other people.

Now if I choose to help, that's another matter. But should I be expected, required to sacrifice myself for someone else?

Well since we are all humans it probably wouldn't hurt if we looked out for everyone. I know it is a foreign concept to most in the good ole USA but it might help.

Once more I am going to ask, HOW IN THE HELL WILL ANYONE PREVENT SOMEONE FROM HAVING CHILDREN?

It has been pointed out that financial responsibility does not equate the ability to be a good parent.

I will agree that there are women who seem to have children in order to get more money from social programs.

I will also point out that while child abuse in affluent families are not reported as often as abuse in lower class families, it is still a problem, thus money does not make the parent.

So, how is anyone going to decide who can and cannot have children?

What programs are you paying for me? Please list.

Now why do you assume that me worrying about myself AUTOMATICALLY means I don't or can't worry about others?

Simple. First thought."Fuck me, I am going to have to give something to someone. I don't like that"....

Not a clue which ones. But I am sure you get gov't benefit somewhere along the way....I doubt that I'd be crazy about paying for it

Nice try.

You do understand that there is a difference between choosing to help people financially and otherwise, and being required to be responsible for them, don't you?

Well worry not, that's a very common mistake.

I am not against helping people, I am against the idea that I MUST. Do you have an obligation to help me? Of course not. Do you have a choice? Absolutely. That is what I believe. I reject altruism, I reject the view that I am nothing more than a sacrificial animal to others and their interests.

You have a job, you work. With the money you earn, you buy yourself a nice jacket. You meet me, I have a shitty job, and can't afford as nice of a jacket as you. I tell you you should give me that jacket, because I cannot afford to get it myself.

Now, what do you do?
