Personally, I find him offensive and a rather sad joke.
Yea, that sounds about right.

His drug use alone makes my skin crawl...
Is he still using drugs? I keep hearing people say that, but I haven't seen any proof that he didn't quit. But I suppose once a drug addict, always a drug addict. Maybe we should just shoot them when they start using, then we wouldn't have to worry about whether or not they really quit.

He is better behind his "entertainment" gig. IF he ever ran for office.... lol... it would only be to ensure someone else won.
In that case I hope he picks Sarah as a running mate.

I do recall him openly admitting he was using. Dont you? And, yes, once an addict, always an addict. Doesnt matter to me if he still is or not. Its what I will always remember about him... the lies, the manipulations and the scheming... all the while playing his "holier-than-thou" routine.

I don't think anyone would really care about his drug use if it were not for his hypocritical crusade against it while he was using.

And, I suppose this qualifies as "entertainment" for you?

There's nothing more loathsome and pathetic than a self righteous hypocrite who won't shut up even after getting caught.

How can anyone with any intelligence see him as a mere "entertainer"?

It's easy. They just look at him, look at his job and call him an entertainer. Doesn't matter who listens to him or who takes him seriously. He is still a radio talk show host. Now if he ran for office, like so many other entertainers have done, then he would be a politician. But I doubt that will happen anytime soon, so I am not going to lose sleep over it.

Exhibit 1

This is more of the continuing theme of yours.  Something is not true because it's not the way you see it.

When Rush's listeners and supporters treat him as an entertainer rather than making their choices and actions from his words then that is what he will be.  When the GOP stops kowtowing to him, asking his opinion, and apologizing to him then he can be just an entertainer.

To his credit Rush doesn't pull out the "I'm just an entertainer" or "I'm just a commentator" remarks to escape responsibility for his remarks the way the FOX crowd does.

There is much space between entertainer and politician.  The non politicians often hold the most power or have you forgotten Karl Rove?

I have already explained that I don't personally find him entertaining. But it is kind of amusing to watch you try to claim I did over and over again. Are you really this slow or just bored?

DomYngBlk -> RE: Rush Limbaugh decides he's a health freak. (2/24/2011 9:17:20 AM)

boi, you seem to be his chief supporter here. Why all the words in support if you don't agree?

flcouple2009 -> RE: Rush Limbaugh decides he's a health freak. (2/24/2011 9:32:35 AM)

His question boi was not whether "YOU" find it entertaining but whether or not you consider Rush entertainment.

For instance you may no find "Friends" entertaining, but you would agree it is entertainment.  Do you actually feel the same about what Rush does?

As much you want to muddle the issue there is a difference between entertainment and political commentary.

but the quote was so offensive that Retired General Wesley Clarke said:

There can be no excuse for such statements. Mr. Limbaugh has the right to say whatever he wants, but ABC and ESPN have no obligation to sponsor such hateful and ignorant speech. Mr. Limbaugh should be fired immediately.

When a respected, retired general condemns the statement of a sportscaster, you know he’s gone too far.

Calling a spade a spade isnt racist.

Calling a drug popping racist... a drug popping racist... isnt racist either when its the truth.

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: Rush Limbaugh decides he's a health freak. (2/24/2011 11:15:41 AM)

Rush does have balls of steel for throwing rocks from his glass house.   I think Obama looks too thin (maybe he is naturally so), and Michelle, looks great (not like models who throw up their food, or models (who may/may not) have heroin for dinner).

I think moderation is what ought to be preached, and increased activity away from the electronic games.

I'm ambivalent about all of the "healthy" preaching coming down though; there is a definite increase, in my view, of discriminating talk/view, against big/fat people, from the insurance companies, and folks who think fatter=less human.   I almost don't watch Morning Joe anymore, because of Mika's preachiness about it.   I'm about to go Republican with Joe, just for the "don't fucking tell me what to do!"   Educate everyone out of poverty, since that is the single best predictor of success in life/health.

Well let's see, the right has Rush Limbaugh making racist statements, they have Glen Beck and other Fox news personalities condemning ALL Muslims, they have Glen Beck rewriting history and saying the Nazis were socialists, we even have a lot on the right screaming for a christian based government. (that is called a theocracy, which in its very nature is oppressive.)

And the left has no right to point out facts that some on the right will deny while listening to or watching proof. The right will make the claim it is some leftest conspiracy.

Sanity -> RE: Rush Limbaugh decides he's a health freak. (2/24/2011 11:39:18 AM)

Yeah... pfft. If you cant take it out of context then you just make your lies up out of thin air, way to play by Alinskys rules.

Bravo.

Consider these tallies from Glenn Beck's show on Fox News since Obama's inauguration: 202 mentions of Nazis or Nazism, according to transcripts, 147 mentions of Hitler, 193 mentions of fascism or fascist, and another 24 bonus mentions of Joseph Goebbels. Most of these were directed in some form at Obama -- as were the majority of the 802 mentions of socialist or socialism on Beck's nightly "report." source

There is already a link concerning Rush's racist comments.

Do a google search for Glenn Beck Theocracy, and you will find all the statements Glenn Beck has made concerning MORE RELIGION in government.

Of course there is Bill O'Reilly saying "There’s no question there is a Muslim problem in the world," he said last night on his show. "The Muslim threat to the world is not isolated. It's huge!" "It involves nations and millions of people."

He doesnt make a distinction between Muslims and Radical Muslims.

Brian Kilmeade said "were outraged that somebody was saying there's a reason -- there was a certain group of people that attacked us on 9-11. It wasn't just one person. It was one religion. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."

Evidently he never heard of the IRA.

quote:

On the September 7 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom, co-host Bill Hemmer said of the Park51 Islamic center, "It could also be the first stop for a radical jihadist who comes to America who wants to go pray." On the August 18 edition of The O'Reilly Factor, Fox News contributor Dick Morris said of Park51: "These Sharia mosques ... have become the command centers for terrorism," adding, "So this one would be, too." The next day, Morris made similar remarks on Fox & Friends; during the show, Fox Business host Eric Bolling also claimed that Park51 "may be a meeting place for some of the scariest minds -- some of the biggest terrorist minds." Kilmeade later said of Park51: "The next Hamburg cell could be right downtown."

quote:

On his August 18 radio show, Glenn Beck said of Park51: "You look for things that are uniting, and I'm sorry, but the Cordoba Project is not uniting. If you wanted to unite people, you don't spit in their face. You don't spit in their face. On the 10th anniversary, after you've killed 3,000 people, you're going to now build your mosque on -- there, really?" Beck has repeatedly falsely claimed that Park51 was scheduled to open on September 11, 2011. He has also referred to the Islamic center as "the 9-11 mosque" and has wondered if it is "a possibility" that Park51's location is about "inoculation."
