Did you even notice that the guy that runs that site is a professional activist, and writes for National Review?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L._Brent_Bozell_III

Yes, I know he is a conservative. Activist? Well, he may well be but given what I read about him, I don't see him as a violent or radical one. It IS funny that they would call him an activist whereas they do not use the term in either of these two articles to describe the people profiled, both of whom come from the left. And while "Wike" seems to have no problem finding those areas in which the two folks below have gone up against conservatism during their most recent incarnations, they just can't seem to find anything to cite about Bozell's organization's foray against progressives.:

Then what exactly do you define as an activist if not L.Brent Bozell III?

And I really love his pretentious name.

Old Brent is grandnephew of William F. Buckley, founder, Nat'l Review.

Activist?  His exercise consists of removing the silver spoon to pontificate from his granduncles notes in usufruct.

I'm changing my screen name to L. RML III.

LOL. it really shouldn't surprise anyone.

Change it to Latisha Zaboni, and that would raise eyebrows.

Who the fuck is Latisha Zaboni?

Never mind, I probably don't want to know.

And do you understand how that might affect anybody's views of his information?   National Review does not present itself as providing information, only analysis.    It looks like his websites are the same.

We're talking about people who have a hard time with arithmetic.    It was hard to rely on that level of analysis in the 20th century, and life isn't getting simpler.    Not even for you folks who have the money to level Afghanistan.

That's what most activism is, especially since the Citizens United decision.    Well, that and calling governors to ask for BJs.

mnottertail -> RE: This Really Shouldn't Surprise Anyone... (3/2/2011 1:09:58 PM)

Wait a minute.............get blowjobs, is there any restrictions on party, mine or theirs?

Let me peruse the list of 8 current female governors, and get back to you, I might need some help with the caselaw.

And this really shouldn't surprise anyone.

Are you an activist?     Most Republicans don't seem all that picky about who or where they give or get head.

In fairness, his parents probably stuck him with it.    Mine stuck me with one that caused me more trouble than if they'd named me Sue.  And sweet jesus! all the weird New Age names we see kids stuck with these days, it's like parents were trying to start schoolyard fights.

On the other hand, the way he uses it is his choice.   I sure don't advertise.

And fer chrissakes, can't he get a job?

jack8007 -> RE: This Really Shouldn't Surprise Anyone... (3/2/2011 2:49:24 PM)

just not proof

Proof is the GOP reaction to Sharon Angle, including her comment about "2nd amendment remedies".

Of course our nation (like many) was born in violent revolution, and of course that's what she's saying - that if you don't do things our way, we're going to start shooting.

I kinda fucking doubt it.   Republicans generally are chickenhawks, and Teabaggers specifically are blowhards.  The last President that kicked ass on anybody was a Democrat leading Democrats, FDR & Co.    Teabaggers vs a Democratic administration would play out like Koresh vs ATF did.   But there is always the 10% who never get the word, so every so often some Teabagger will pack up his armory and go looking for the Tides Foundation.

The problem with Democrats is that they think too damn much, including thinking about where exactly the country is going to be if they tell Republicans & their delinquent children the Teabaggers to put up or shut up - and the answer is that the Teabaggers are too fucking dumb to realize that they WILL put the country back into the 18th century if they let nature take its course on Wall Street, and that is the reason that both Bush and Obama have agreed on bailouts.   While Goldman Sachs, Bernie Madoff et al deserve to dangle at the end of a short drop, the consequences are worse than the rest of us deserve.  And the GOP is happy to exploit that sense of responsibility.

Where Obama has failed us is in refusing to act like an owner once we bought Wall Street.   And honestly, ownership doesn't matter as much as management, and the only solution I see is to tighten up their assholes gradually, to the point that the financial industry no longer operates like a horde of highwaymen.

Yes, piracy used to be a hazard of the free market.  Then so was forgery, fraud, etc.   Little by little we eliminated those problems, not because any regime was nice, but because the reliability of a more or less transparent market expands commercial reach & power - if some degree of honesty can survive the quarter, it is usually the better policy.   It doesn't depend on the twisted talents of a Machiavelli or Stalin, and it's much easier to get people together around the feel-good approach of Fox News than the approach of the KGB.

Tout alors!!!!!  I have made a social and political faux paus of the highest order!!!! What was I thinking????

There is nothing grand about this relationship, it is nephew and uncle only.

After the recent untimely demise of Mr. Buckley, his son Christo (Christopher) took over the helm, and resigned after a month or so, saying, "I'm just not that conservative".  The liberally biased media reported it in passing, but did not play the harpie.

Without any sort of cum hoc ergo propter hoc, and since Bill's sister, Patricia, Boz3's mother was a large driving force in the NatRev since it's inception...

Mors ultima linea rerum est, ergo; Boz3 and National Review.

The silver spoon and usufructs are still absolutely correct, however.

No argument there.   And it doesn't bother me to know he's feeding on his uncle's corpse for the rest of his natural life, until his appetite starts including the rest of us.    Then it's time to break out the pitchforks and torches and outsource those motherfuckers to a Chinese labor camp.

mnottertail -> RE: This Really Shouldn't Surprise Anyone... (3/3/2011 7:11:48 AM)

LOL. That certainly is fiery advocation, but it won't make it past Scalia and Thomas (for different motivations I expect).  But I'll back ya.

No his parents stuck him with Leo Bozell.

He decided he was L. Brent.

And who but a pretentious asshole would add the III to his name?

mnottertail -> RE: This Really Shouldn't Surprise Anyone... (3/3/2011 7:18:04 AM)

Perhaps because L. Ron Hubbard would have confused the issue?

He seemed to be at least somewhat fiscally conservative, now I think that jacks point that these other conservatives pay lip service (as it were) has some basis in fact.
