This reminds me of Bush vs. Saddam. The only difference now is that its Gaddafi who is butchering his own people and  its Obama calling for regime change...

quote:

Obama says Gadhafi must leave Libya 'now'

This reminds me of the 1980's when Reagan was doing the same thing.

And then Bush came in and they kissed and made up in what was the start of a short-lived romance.

Whats funny is that RML, thinks he is right.

Same thing indeed. Please show where Reagan declared that Gaddaffi must step down.

Really?

In a heartbeat I can show you.

Targeting Gaddafi - TIMEApr 21, 1986 ... Almost simultaneously, President Reagan at his Wednesday-night news conference called Gaddafi "this mad dog of the Middle East" and ...

My God RML is hopeless, no where in that article did Reagan demand Gadaffi step down.

It just doesn't have a grasp on reality anymore.

The article does talk about how Force was used to break Libya's illegal claiming of International waters.

Are you fucking for real?

Reagan calls him a mad dog but you think that means he wants him to stay in power?

I encourage everyone to watch RML's link.

A Real President!!! Wonderfull.

But he actually didn't say what RML claims he did.

The goal was not to remove Mumar.

But to stop his regiem from outward terror, and illegally claiming international waters.

And it worked.

And what did the Left and the UN have to say about the affair.

International responseThe attack was condemned by many countries. By a vote of 79 in favor to 28 against with 33 abstentions, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 41/38 which "condemns the military attack perpetrated against the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya on 15 April 1986, which constitutes a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and of international law."[28]

The Government of Libya said that the United States had fallen prey to the arrogance and madness of power and wanted to become the world's policeman. It charged that any party that did not agree to become an American vassal was an outlaw, a terrorist, and a devil. A meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement said that it condemned the "dastardly, blatant and unprovoked act of aggression". The League of Arab States expressed that it was outraged at the United States aggression and that it reinforced an element of anarchy in international relations. The Assembly of Heads of State of the African Union in its declaration said that the deliberate attempt to kill Libyans violated the principles of international law. The Government of Iran asserted that the attack constituted a policy of aggression, gunboat diplomacy, an act of war, and called for an extensive political and economic boycott of the United States. Others saw the United States motive as an attempt to eliminate Libya's revolution.[29] China stated that the US attack violated norms of international relations and had aggravated tension in the region. The Soviet Union believed that there was a clear link between the attack and U.S. policy aimed at stirring up existing hotbeds of tension and creating new ones, and at destabilizing the international situation. West Germany stated that international disputes required diplomatic and not military solutions. France also criticized the bombing and had not allowed American aircraft to fly over its territory en route to Libya, forcing them to make a lengthy trip through the Strait of Gibraltar.

I missed this before, but fair enough.

But at what point do we draw the line at negotiating with terrorists or countries that support it?

Cool, Ramsey Clark (remember him folks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsey_Clark ) also was involved in helping Mumar sue the USA.

(Studio: Dan Rather) Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark reportedsuing United States government on behalf of Libyan victims involved in last year's bombing of Tripoli; details given.

(Tripoli, Libya: Allen Pizzey) Celebrations observing bombing's anniversary featured; scenes shown. Participation of Colonel Muammar el- Kadhafi, American Indians, black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan and representatives of West peace orgs. noted. [WOMAN - considers Kadhafi friend of US.] Libyan government's orchestration of event and financing of West visitors' trips described.

This is why I like coming here.

I actually look stuff and double check before I post on things.

and learn things.

I knew that Ramsey was a scumbag, but wasn't aware that he worked for Mumar back in the day.

Learn new things all the time....

Interesting connections, avid long time supporter of Gaddaffi, Louis Farakhan, was given leadership award by Reverend Wright. While Obama was a member of his church (for 20 years). No info on if Obama actually was at the ceremony.

You guys are arguing about whether Reagan made a statement about wanting Khadaffi out of office. I'd say a 500# bomb dropped on your house is a statement neh?
