How is anything dealing with mortal sin relevant to this discussion?

It is relevant to the discussion because it addresses the question why dominant men being mistreated? Dominant men are being mistreated due to the destruction of charity in the heart of women.

The film Zeitgeist Moving Forward makes references to preserve/preservation. Notice the hyperlink. The film is available on YouTube. Notice please that the Zeitgeist documentary films have an atheist character. Its themes, however, are religious.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (2nd Edition) paragraph 2123 on page 515

quote:

Many ... of our contemporaries either do not at all perceive, or explicitly reject, this intimate and vital bond of man to God. Atheism must therefore be regarded as one of the most serious problems of our time.

I pointed out earlier that since many of the ideas advanced by Atheism are indeed religious Atheism is unnecessary.

Another point raised by the film is how resources are allocated. Resources are not allocated in ways that are entirely rational. This also applies to who gets the girl, etc.

The notion that something is special is central to religion. It explains why something should be preserved. Mummification practiced in ancient Egypt was a religious practice. Why do people bother? To preserve a thing, that is the preservation of a thing, is a central tenet and goal of religion, not merely the ancient Egyptian faith.

To regard a thing as special and love are related. That which is regarded as special is loved and that which is loved is regarded as special.

"I mean, how many people out there believe that God really is a human being, despite no evidence of this and it defying all known logic. "

Walkiing across a gravel driveway is not as easy for me as it used to be. How could this possibly be relevant ?

I think most people like to think of God in a human or humanoid form because then they feel like they are at least a little bit like God. I could write a book on that but, not right now.

Most people's lives are incomplete, as such they try to complete themselves by accepting something which pleases them. Even crying at the altar begging forgivness pleases them. Sounds ironic, but I don't think anyone can find much argument against it. Even atonement can make one feel complete, somewhat.

Now about the gravel drivweway. People say cleanliness is next to Godliness. When I had money and didn't have to work there were weeks I didn't wear shoes. The soles of my feet became black as I walked around outside without shoes. My feet are not as tough as they used to be.

Nothing is next to Godliness. Emulate what you can never be ? Why ? My rejection of religion is based partly on the fact that I believe it is an exercise in futility, even if every word of their dogma is absolutely true.

One day I'll get in the mood and I will write a detailed essay on what I believe and why. Then you can see what you think (?). If I get around to it, I think you'll be very surprised at how intimately personal it is considering my general point of view. It is nothing like anyone would think, I think.

I noticed enmity when the post was posted. He misspelled the word. The n needs to proceed the m so you are correct, but his meaning is nonetheless clear. He is trying to make a point. He is trying to say, obliquely, that this world actually matters. According to Christianity, for example, this place/condition that we are currently living in only matters indirectly; hence, it is advisable not to fall in love with it since it will pass away and when it does pass away it will/can take you with it if you have grown too attached to it. What he is saying is that he has fallen in love with the world.

Do you realize that it would be an exercise in futility even if science were to find a way to extend our life span to a billion years? Even if science was to find a way to give us eternal life in a thousand years what would be the point in that? We would all be dead from old age by then and if the point is to keep our genome alive, what then is the point of doing that?

The example I gave earlier concerning the directive to preserve does not require scientific scrutiny since the behavior is merely an artifact. It does not matter if the body is preserved for a hundred or a thousand years. It is faithfulness to the directive that is relevant.

The existence of an eternal creator with a divine plan solves these problems. The Creator does not need a maker since the Creator is eternal. He has no beginning and no end. Our hopes are with Him.

To continue the point I was making concerning "... it is advisable not to fall in love with (the world) since it will pass away and when it does pass away it will/can take you with it if you have grown too attached to it." It begs the question, what if your beloved is going to hell? If you love him or her, then you had best make certain they are not and if this is outside of your control, then the matter has to be placed in the hands of God with a prayer, "God please save my beloved." Your true love affair needs to be with God. It follows that under such circumstances one must place some distance between themselves and their beloved.

It does, eh? I would be delighted to see that.

The word "emnity" isn't in anybody's dictionary. To wit: No dictionary result. The correct spelling is "enmity".

Gettin' some good stuff out there, ain'tcha. [:D]

What I speak of, whether they are understood or not, are priceless. My words are heard by the adversary of God even if you do not hear them.

It is silly to delete posts that were intended to explain what this thread is about written by the original poster of the thread (abbreviated OP).

Uh, I hope you mean this figuratively not literally.

BenevolentM -> RE: A Guide for Dominant Men: How to Preserve Yourself (4/15/2011 4:01:26 PM)

It occurred to me that Atheism is at the heart of why are dominant men are being abused because it has to do with the idea that goodness is like having to pay your taxes. You are not obligated to pay more than you have to. There is also this idea what you are obligated to pay can be arbitrarily monkeyed with to suit whatever the thinking is at the moment. If the agenda is to end war, why not discriminate against men especially dominant men. Atheism is interested in progress, not preservation.

BenevolentM -> RE: A Guide for Dominant Men: How to Preserve Yourself (4/16/2011 12:10:15 AM)

I do not look at the profiles of dominant men all that often, but I thought to take a peek to contrast them against their female counterparts. The sample size was small, but an asymmetry stands out. The rules are clearly different. What I see suggests to me that the men are scared whereas the women are not; the men are careful whereas the women are carefree. This supports my thesis that dominant men are discriminated against. They are not allowed to speak their minds.

Meekness would contradict what I have written and thereby cause me to indirectly deny God. The spouse of Our Holy Mother is the Holy Spirit. She is woman made perfect by God. Through her blessing I received the Holy Spirit.

The notion of royalty is beyond daily experience for many in our contemporary world, but the Virgin Mother is royalty and so is God. I am due respect.

Hey BenevolentM check out this thread.

I think you and this OP have something in common.

BenevolentM -> RE: A Guide for Dominant Men: How to Preserve Yourself (4/16/2011 1:05:53 AM)

Since the Bible is a canonical work such debate is not especially meaningful.

BenevolentM -> RE: A Guide for Dominant Men: How to Preserve Yourself (4/16/2011 1:18:52 AM)

With thanks I acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit within me.

You mean you aren't going to brag on his thread about all the reasons you think you're better than him? I was hoping to see some real entertainment. A showdown of the Narcissists.

Shhh, you have bored the sheep and he now is resting. If you listen carefully, you may even hear him snoring gently.

Rather than name calling, it would be more interesting if you could add something meaningful to the discussion. For example, you could say that you disagree that men are discriminated against and offer an explanation for why you feel this way.
