That was my point! Anti-abortionist killings are a peculiar US phenomenon, and highly localised at that. It's a local police matter and hardly threatens the western world as we know it.

No problem here Tweaks, in my view colonialism has to be taken in the context of the times. I wasnt trying to shoot you down, I just get exasperated at times. The Victorian empire was different from the Elizabethan, to use one example. Balfours declaration, ambiguously worded as it was, bore no resemblence to that of British foreign policy dictated to by the events of WW2. David Cesarani didnt allow for that in the article you linked to. I am not sure he should have but it would make things a bit clearer.

My problem with all the quotes about history is this. How far do you go back in time, because if you look deeply enough few come out smelling at roses at some point or the other. Do we set time limits on who done what and when, and if so, what should they be ?

My argument precisely. Who cares whether Hamas launched rockets today, yesterday or 5 years ago? The issue goes back to 1948, earlier in fact given the planning of the early Zionists like ben Gurion, Jakobovitz inter alia. The plan was never to co-exist with the native Palestinians, rather to expel them all. All we see are a series of attacks and counter attacks as the phoney peace talks get dragged up every so often to lull everyone into a sense of optimism. Humbug!

Islam, per se, is NOT the problem. It is the people who've gotten their hands on the Koran and interpret it in a manner that gives them carte blanche to aspire to murder those not of the Islamic faith.
