I consider the US economy a disaster.

I'm sure they will do that and more, or at least try to according to this:

GOP budget targets agency that warned of tsunami

WASHINGTON (AP) — A spending plan being pushed by Republicans would slash funding for the agency that warned Hawaii and the West Coast about the devastating tsunami in Japan.

The plan, approved last month by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, would trigger an estimated $126 million in cuts for the National Weather Service, the agency that houses the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii. The center issued widespread warnings minutes after Friday's earthquake and issued guidance and updates throughout the day.

Republican should pass a bill cutting the value of their Republican wages 80% to better reflect the value of their contribution to America with legislation they bring forward.

Senator Tom Coburn (R, OK) blocked the bill that would have put $1.15 billion dollars available for Haiti that the US pledged after the earthquake in January.

The question is, will it happen again with Japan.

But by gosh, we responded didn't we?

Supertanker after supertanker after supertanker of taxpayer cash, sent to those who ran the ship aground.

Who says America is heartless?

And all those nice people in Ireland and the UK showing up in large crowds just to, I am sure of it, show their enthusiastic support for the necessary reduction of higher education funding and increasing of taxes to support those poor unfortunate bank bond holders (themselves sitting on combined trillions in net worth) and gladly sacrificing their own well being for such a noble cause.

I feel a tear coming ...

On the News last night they said there's already a bunch of stuff on the way and rescue teams with dogs.
That stuff and the teams are being flown over by Air Force cargo jets, it'll take a few days to locate, transport, and load large amounts of supplies by ship and then it'll be about two days to get it there.
The ships can probably carry 200 times as much cargo as a transport plane, maybe more so when they start arriving they can make a real differance. Some of those new ships are huge!

Found that on Youtube, the Navy and Marines are already helping out!

Those ships can sit there just like the ambulances waiting at the pentagon, that will watch and probably film you dying right in front of them while they don;t lift a finger because you're not a congressman or senator.

Stupid motherfuckers who don'rt even know who the war is against will never win it.

Sorry, I meant "two weeks" in the above post not "two days!"
Term, it will be up to the Japs to unload those ships and distribute the materials.
They will probably sail into Tokyo harbor further South as all the ports to the North have been destroyed, and then truck the supplies as far North as they can.
Unless they're storing oil speculating on the price (contango) to rise they don't let ships sit idle, a car payment these days could run you $350-$500 per month, those ships are a lot more expensive.
When they have cargoes aboard in today's market they can earn about $16,000 to $25,000 per day so they want to load and unload just as fast as they can and keep them moving. They're not making any money if they're in port for three or five days.
