Ya know, until recently i thought the term meant "big breasted woman". As a result i ended up responding to the wrong ads. Sort of off topic, but still pretty funny, i think.

I remember I thought that once

Threads like this don't bother me, what bothers me is any thread about people or women being fat always turn into a circus and i really do think there could be a lot of good based on body image the threads could have.  But everyone has turned fat threads into such a stigma, they never get a chance to evolve into things that may be interesting to people because its something many people deal with and i personally get tired of all the politically correct must have views about it.  Yes talking about body image will hurt SOMEONE's feelings, but the fact a majority of people are overweight and yes obese makes me wonder why people are so very scared to discuss it in a reality sort of way.

To me, people should have enough discipline to NOT post on such a thread if they feel its an asinine thread, grins, but that's no fun.

I never said that I was not asinine, I just have a better handle on it than most. weg

In your last post you stated something very valuable, it is not for you so you move on. We get way too many douche-bags that believe that all obese women are lazy cows that choose it.While I confidently agree some do, there is a host of other reasons for obesity that are beyond control. However, it is the individual that has to live with the choices they make and if they can find confidence and happiness in it I am happy for them. Clinical obesity removes choice, however they can choose the level of confidence and happiness they garner from their self image through acceptance.

In my first post I said I want a woman that on a scale from 1-10 is a 55. The package itself can only be 1-10, the contents elevate that, or diminish it above or below.

While I know what I am attracted to, it is quite concise on my profile, I can still admire, care for and love people that do not fit within my ideal for a partner. Initiating a rant such as this simply bespeaks of insecurity. "There are no women here that I want because they are all fat, fat, fat". That is the recent whine epidemic. However obesity is not the issue, it is the character and very nature of those who begin such rants that are the issue. As I said before, often we are mirrors and attract what we reflect. The vile hearted succubi that await these fine gents is a mere reflection of themselves.

YMMV

I call myself "FWC", for fat white chick.

I believe I shall appropriate this acronym for my own personal use.

I don't mind "fat", it is honest.  It's a powerful word in my vocabulary and I own it.

Im fat I have no problems saying I believe my self fat...

My issue is several people who i play with do not see me as fat.... several people i do play with do see me as fat....

Fat isnt a universal truth, because people see what they want to see, the people who want to see just how many fire cups they can stick on my body appreciate the extra skin. those who want a nice big bruise to form. Do as well

Those who cant accept that it doesnt matter if im 120 pounds or 320 pounds that im still the awesome amazing person that I am, and that my weight isnt proportionate to the amount of action i get... with a personality and smile to die for dont get it and will never get it...

Looks fade people can loose weight.... but having no personality remains with you forever....

I disagree, if fat is fine then fattie as short for fat person should be fine too.
Then again, round here people've even objected to me using 'subbie' (short for submissive donchaknow).

Actually, 'sub' is short for submissive. Using 'subbie' is making extra effort to use a diminutive which is often seen as condescending, particularly if it is directed at people who do not know and like you.

That said, while I do not mind being called fat (I'm 5'9" and a bit under 200lbs, so 'big' would also be accurate), 'fatty' bugs me for a couple of reasons. First off, the diminutive makes it sound condescending and very much like a grammar school insult. Secondly, removing 'person', 'man', or 'woman' turns the fat part from an adjective into a noun, which comes across as an attempt to marginalize the person or persons being referred to by defining them according to a single trait.

I find that many of the people who use terms like 'fatty' wouldn't even think of walking up to a bald person that they didn't know very well and saying, "Hey, baldy, how ya doin'?" For that matter most won't call someone 'fatty' to their face either. If the term is so OK to use and not intended as an insult, I wonder why that is...

Moving on to the OP's question, I do not use the term BBW as I do not care for it. My height and weight are listed on my profile and I have pics up, and people that I meet in real can tell by looking (outside) and/or getting to know me (inside). Personally, I know that I fuckin rock, and that is what matters. If someone disagrees, cool. We are obviously not compatible.

As for others, I don't really care one way or another. If it really bothers someone then the term has done its job, weeding them out as a potential partner.

[RANT AHEAD]
What really bothers me about "fat threads" is NOT the fact that some people just don't like fat people. Everyone has their personal preferences and I have no problem with that. What DOES bother me is this:

(1)Fat threads always seem to target the WOMEN specifically. What about all the fat men out there? No one ever seems to mention them.
(2)There aren't any "skinny-threads." Does that mean it's okay to be excessively skinny? There is a different fat thread floating around right now where the OP claims he's concerned about the health issues. There are just as many health issues associated w/ being excessively skinny.

As far as choice about losing weight is concerned, there are some people (notice I said PEOPLE, not WOMEN) out there who, no matter what, cannot seem to take the weight off, just as there are people out there who can eat like not just a horse but a whole team of horses and never gain an ounce. My first husband was one of those. So, okay, there are admittedly some people out there who could lose weight but choose not to for whatever reason. BUT there are also people out there who could maintain a healthy weight, yet choose to starve themselves for whatever reason. So what is it in an individual's mind that makes it so much more acceptable and okay to bash and insult the excessively OVERweight when there are equally UNDERweight people out there and they say nothing about them? What makes these people think it's okay to target fat people for bashing, but not excessively skinny people? In my opinion, EXCESSIVELY skinny people are not attractive at all, yet I don't start a thread to bash them and try to make everyone else think the same way I do about it. For what it's worth, that's what irritates me about this whole "fat thread" thing.

In response only to the title of this thread "Is the term BBW annoying?"

Not nearly as annoying as all the little shits who want to complain about it.

You do know there are more inherent health risks to maintaining a size 0 frame then there is maintaining a size 18 frame...

Because the amount of starvation and exercise needed for most people to be that size kills the organs....
