The first may have been hyperbole but it speaks to the issue as you have pointed out, whenever theres a crisis (the Gulf oil leak, Libya, Japan) the man likes to vote 'present' from the golf course or Rio or wherever

In some ways as my sig line says his passivity is a good thing though, not necessarily complaining just more or less saying

Coming from someone who laments the end of Bush II this is just comical. How can you try to score points on the "vacation" habits of this President in light of your guy's propensity to "vacate" his office?

Gingrich - the rat who ran out on his first wife while she was stricken with cancer, who admits to repeatedly taking bad decisions under pressure - is just the type of person you need to provide backbone and leadership during a crisis. Yeppers! Sure! I'll go for that.

But only if the crisis is about something no more substantial than where to put the big star on the Christmas tree.

Quoting Gingrich to support a position is an admission of bankruptcy. A bit like consulting Pol Pot on ethics, or Westboro Baptist Phelps on love.

You have to forgive poor Sanity, he got caught with his proverbial pants down.

While his fellow right wingers were paying attention to what France and the UK were doing,  I am sure Gadhafi was as well, we launched an attack.  I am sure they weren't expecting us to slip in under that smoke screen and deliver missiles.

I guess they were supposed to announce the attack before hand.  That would have made Sanity and Newt happy.

ABC Radio here this morning is reporting that the first actions by UN Coalition forces included French jets destroying 4 of Ghadaffi's tanks in Benghazi.

IF acting as if he has started his run at the man currently occupying the office....by criticizing his Presidents attention to foreign policy issues is "staying above the belt"....than sure thing Rich.

And two cycles of Democrats didn't run by attacking Bush II on foreign policy, Mike? Of course, all those high moral principles they were spouting are going to be revealed as nthing but partisan posturing and the empty rhetoric of hypocrisy now that President Obama has chosen to fire the opening shots of our third war in the region.

I don't care for Newt, but this decision, and how we came to it, are certainly fair game.

Heretic, are you saying that us getting involved with the Libya mess is a bad idea?

I've been saying that, Jlf, at least in terms of using military force. If you are hoping to drag that into some weeds, let me tell you now that I also thought going into Iraq and Afghanistan were bad ideas as well. We have a way of getting stuck in these places, you know.

Yeah, and your positions on gun ownership mark you as a flaming lib...

Maybe you should invest in some narrower brushes?

My truck isn't with Newt's attack...it was with your insistence that he was "staying above the belt"...and oh yeah with Newt himself, the fact that he thinks he can rehabilitate his reputation to such a degree to make a run...proves he is delusional.

Why don't you just ignore them and engage with the forum members who are not trying to ridicule you, for surely when you do engage those that call you, you are feeding them, and as everyone knows, keep feeding a dog, it will come back for more.

Then my understanding is, you get what you ask for and because you ask for it, you have no right to complain when you get bored of it.

Your choice.

As contrasted with the NCAA jab, which I did think was a cheap shot, Mike. Trust me, I won't be rushing to defend Gingrich.

Lucy I will not be convinced he is being taken seriously till he accepts the nomination at the Republican convention....if this were a horse race him and the cuda would be available in the 50 to 1 pool.
There have to be enough sensible folks left in the Republican party to know that neither on of them would stand a chance in the general election

Newt was and always IS above the belt.  He just drops the belt before starting oral arguments sometimes...

Yes, I watched those reports before posting.   My first thought was "WTF, do these guys know what a 'no fly zone' is?" but there was a later report that Ghadaffi had said he would respect the no fly zone but violated it anyway.  Which isn't all that surprising....
