It really pisses me off, to be honest: if these tosspots were willing to pay for the kids to be raised and educated as well as denying the mothers an abortion, you could have at least a shred of respect for their approach. As things stand, it's a loathsome attitude, which does make you wonder if Termy might not be onto something when he says they want to maintain a clueless and poorly educated underclass (though that notion loses a lot of conviction over the fact that the underclass doesn't bother to vote, by and large.)

Thats all you have to say about his post?

This is nothing more than using the power of the state to attempt to force a religious agenda on women. The State has no legitimate interest whatsover doing so. Forcing a waiting period violates the freedom of association clause of the 1st Amendment. Requiring sonograms not only places an undo burden on poor women, but also is an egregious misuse of scarce medical resources.

This is the pigfuckers of the religious right continuing their war on the autonomy of women. They hate free women. Fuck them.

As I said, they also eat at the budgets of state governments with all the legal challenges these are sure to bring.

Got to like a guy who is honest.

As to the original, no shock there.  It's time for folks to make a splash on the news and get attention.  Those primaries will be here before you know it.

Nooooo, silly you!!  Thats being a socialist!!  Instead lets force these women into desperate situations.  Lets prevent them from helping themselves by turning our backs on them after they were forced into the positions they were put in.

And let's get mortally offfended that we're expected to pay a sliver of our taxes to feed the kids they didn't want to have in the first place: you're forgetting that one.

I don't remember those proposed bills which require a woman to keep an unwanted baby.
I do remember reading about "sanctuary laws" and waiting lists for people who want to adopt infants....

So, you think the solution is for her to take a maternity leave to have and give up for abortion a baby she doesnt want??  And then wonder how to make due with the loss of income?  I'm not following your logic.  Is that what you mean???

**edited to add...and endure the expenses of an unwanted baby thru visits to a gyno...any possible tests for that unwanted baby, lawyer fees, if applicable

Oh the horror, DG. That abortion clinics might have the means on hand to keep at least one of the two heartbeats that go into the room going, if something goes badly wrong. It's the END of Roe v. Wade!

Also, they should require larger parking areas and wider sidewalks at the clinics. Between the protesters and the volunteer escorts, who are there all day, the poor women coming in for a flush shouldn't need to park two blocks away.

Actually the funny thing about how it got done was in the headline...

"Agriculture Committee passes abortion bill"

The Agriculture Committee is not who should be ruling on abortion bills. It was an end run to find a very conservative group of man who would pass the bill and thereby move it forward.

It's just typical slimy politics done by both sides of the aisle.

All it does is waste resources, money and time that should have gone elsewhere.

What do we have to worry? Our state is rich!!!

"(though that notion loses a lot of conviction over the fact that the underclass doesn't bother to vote, by and large.)"

I'm not so sure of that. I used to take a bus (to work) and I overheard things like "he'll give us more" and the like.

But there is another aspect of it, this "underclass" knows very little of their rights and quite a few other things under the law. They are generally gullible in some ways. A nice flock to be fleeced. I've seen people get railroaded into all kinds of things, including jail. Putting up with just about anything, "because they say so". And the public pretenders go along with the "program" and do not truly represent them to the best of their ability. If nothing else it's a class of people who can't afford good lawyers. (or those able nd willing to buck the system)

T^T

Tell her to PM me. I am a contributor to a local outfit that helps in such cases.

I will admit that, yeah, sometimes in life the most convenient, and cheapest, course of action is to kill.
Some of us try to avoid it, that's all.

We're not on the same page.  I am speaking generally, not about one specific person.  This isn't a personal issue for me, but as I said, taking away a woman's right over her own body is ludicrous.  I do admire you for wanting to help someone, though.

As you've just said though, they're an apathetic lot with limited understanding of their rights. They might like the idea of somebody who'll up the welfare payments being elected, but it doesn't follow from that that they'll do anything to bring that about like voting. The Republicans have always had a good line in dirty tactics to intimidate the underclass (particularly the black underclass) into not turning out on election day, after all.

What about the GOP battle cry, less government in the lives of people, smaller government,

You can't preach about less government over people and then send bills to the floor about more government control over what women can do with their bodies.

Dam next they will be passing laws on what clothes people can wear in public.....oh wait they already did that.  Yea for Smaller government

THAT!!! is a very valid point.  Preach about less government, be a dictator to how certain people run their lives (or should run them), then turn their backs on the consequences of their decisions.

Very, very, very good point!!!

LOL, Moonhead.  I'm sure their thinking twists things around a bit there.
