What about the GOP battle cry, less government in the lives of people, smaller government,

You can't preach about less government over people and then send bills to the floor about more government control over what women can do with their bodies.

Dam next they will be passing laws on what clothes people can wear in public.....oh wait they already did that.  Yea for Smaller government

THAT!!! is a very valid point.  Preach about less government, be a dictator to how certain people run their lives (or should run them), then turn their backs on the consequences of their decisions.

Very, very, very good point!!!

Its only a valid point if you don't consider a defenseless fetus a person.

Like I said...its a valid point.  If that fetus could live outside the womb, it would be a different story.  You are the first to rant and cry and go on about people wanting hand outs for not being able to afford life.  And yet, you want to set someone up in that situation??  I say shame on you!!

Sorry, but it isn't. I'm with the AMA on that one. It isn't a person until it gets a birth certificate (Kenyan or otherwise...)

Amoral aside from when it comes to fetuses, eh?

The whole neocon agenda of caring for the fetus but neglecting the child is rather silly.

That's been pointed out in this thread already, to a deafening silence from all of the conservatives who are against birth control but big on welfare cuts.
Anybody would think that they've nothing to rebut that one with, or even that they're selective in how they apply their superior moral standards. Surely not?

What the GOP does not care about how the Supreme court rules???  They only believe the laws should be followed when it meets their agenda????

It's the LAW.  Now if anyone chooses not to have one they do not have to, the government should have no say in the matter.

Ahhhh....but when you must please the far right church donations, the hell with the laws, we need money to run elections with

I am inclined to believe that the whole of the problem can be summarized in two words; "career politician"

And the solution, likewise, is two words; "term limits"

In Illinois this is how we do it.

SPRINGFIELD — The House Agriculture Committee might seem like a proper venue to debate the state’s approach toward crossbow-hunting, soybean rust or farmers markets, but it became a battleground Tuesday over abortion.

By a 13-0 vote, before a standing-room-only room of angry abortion-rights supporters clad in “Women are not livestock” T-shirts and buttons emblazoned with a cow, the panel advanced legislation putting new financial burdens on abortion clinics.

"The whole neocon agenda of caring for the fetus but neglecting the child is rather silly. "

Silly ? You need to study up on some stronger and more abrasive adjectives. Perhaps Domiguy could help you out.

I was thinking more along the lines of "TOTALLY FUCKING RIDICULOUS".

I don't know many people who are anti abortion in the first place, and even fewer who don't think that something must be done with the unwanted children. But then I rarely hang with the religious crowd for many reasons, obvious and not.

My own Father got in these people's face - " Are you going to adopt every fucking unwanted baby born ? Until then shut the fuck up ! ". When the forum is ready, I'll bring in some stronger olmanisms, including why the Mormons and the Witnesses don't ever come here anymore, even two years after his death. (he read and used their own book against them)

T^T

This is nothing more than using the power of the state to attempt to force a religious agenda on women. The State has no legitimate interest whatsover doing so. Forcing a waiting period violates the freedom of association clause of the 1st Amendment. Requiring sonograms not only places an undo burden on poor women, but also is an egregious misuse of scarce medical resources.

This is the pigfuckers of the religious right continuing their war on the autonomy of women. They hate free women. Fuck them.

As I said, they also eat at the budgets of state governments with all the legal challenges these are sure to bring.

What more do you want me to say, Sanity?

I have made my position crystal clear on the abortion issue. But, I will restate it again. Its between a woman and her Dr until age of viability. They won even stop a per-term labor until 20 weeks. Is it murder if a Dr doesnt prevent a woman from miscarrying at 15 weeks? The pro-life movement will tell you "no" because its "god's will".

I am so utterly sick of men making this decision for all women. Do women get a decision if a man wants to snip his tubes shut? Nope, but a woman cant even get her tubes tied until she has kids and is at least 20 years old, depending on the state.

This is all grandstanding for votes. Their chance to say... "See? I tried! I agreed with you!! I did what you wanted me to and that bastard liberal court said "NO"!" Its dont to buy votes, while those people whose votes they are buying have "D&C's" in the hospital instead of abortions in a clinic.

And I cannot believe someone was heartless enough to say a woman must go through with the birth and then give up her flesh and blood for adoption. Some women can do that, others cannot. There are natural risks to giving birth.

If aman had to go through the experience, the age of consent for sterilization would be 18, abortions would be offered as preventative health, and insurace companies would be required to pay for them.

Now, do you wish me to go on?

I will add if you want, seems to me the young turk republicans are fucking it up grandly, and having augered the fed into the ground they are now turning their talent to the states.

I don't see any solutions emanating from these fine americans only problems.  Real tragedies and political tragedy, as well.

So all fetuses that are aborted are destined to be poor?

Hint: there is no economic basis for abortion, period. It is a matter of defining when a fetus becomes a human being and therefore has rights under the law. A mother, father, or doctor has no standing to murder a human being. So again, the point is valid only before the fetus has rights...rights that are set by law, and laws can be changed.

It's actually interesting...

Who's having abortions (income)?
Women with family incomes less than $15,000 obtain 28.7% of all abortions; Women with family incomes between $15,000 and $29,999 obtain 19.5%; Women with family incomes between $30,000 and $59,999 obtain 38.0%; Women with family incomes over $60,000 obtain 13.8%.

http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html

That still seems like a pretty low income but it's the highest percentage.
