tazzygirl -> Wisconsin call for violence - where it really came from. (3/27/2011 7:48:31 AM)

Carlos Lam, a Republican activist and Indiana deputy prosecutor, has resigned amid revelations that he sent an email calling for a fake attack on Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker designed to discredit union protesters.

Walker, a Republican, was the target of protests for his efforts to roll back many union collective bargaining rights in his state. In a Feb. 19 email uncovered by the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, Lam apparently told Walker he had a "good opportunity" to win public sympathy with a "'false flag' operation."

"If you could employ an associate who pretends to be sympathetic to the unions' cause to physically attack you (or even use a firearm against you), you could discredit the unions," read the email. It went on to say that the effort "would assist in undercutting any support that the media may be creating in favor of the unions."

..........

The protests against Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker's efforts to roll back most union collective bargaining rights have been, thankfully, free of violence - so much so that some protesters have been spotted in knitting circles. But the same cannot be said of the rhetoric around the protests, which has included calls for firing on the protesters and for the protesters themselves to "get a little bloody" for their cause.

The call for firing on protesters came from now-former Indiana Deputy Attorney General Jeff Cox, who responded to a Tweet from a Mother Jones reporter saying riot police have been ordered to clear protesters by retweeting the news with the words "Use live ammunition." He also wrote, "You're damn right I advocate deadly force" and, one week ago, "Planned Parenthood could help themselves if the only abortions they performed were retroactive."

Cox lost his job over the Tweets; the Indiana Attorney General's office released a statement reading in part, "We respect individuals' First Amendment right to express their personal views on private online forums, but as public servants we are held by the public to a higher standard, and we should strive for civility."

Now, Im not saying Walked did any of the things suggested to him. But for Walker and Co to cry that the Unions were violent... sorta funny in the light of the knitting circles comment... seems alot like the pot calling the kettle black.

Email has killed more than one "promising" political career. Seems tweets are coming to the forefront as well. Thankfully!

How dumb does one have to be to actually put something like that in writing?

Even the chimp had the wit to keep his non kosher emails in office hidden...

But this guy

In Massachusetts, meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano, a Democrat, is apologizing for his comments at a Tuesday rally in support of the protesters where he said, "Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary."

is still in office.

What's your point?

The voters have every right to fire him as they wish come election time.

slvemike4u -> RE: Wisconsin call for violence - where it really came from. (3/27/2011 9:48:45 AM)

His point?
Clearly he did not like the direction of the conversation,so as is his wont...he attempted to engage in some more sanity shuffle.
What else is new?

The point went right over your head?

Imagine that.

You mean the fact that you never truly have a point? Which is why you are always throwing out the insults and nonsense.

Yeah imagine that.

Cox lost his job for statements his boss found irresponsible coming from a Deputy Attorney General about having police fire on protesters.

If Capuano's employer (the voters) deem he deserves to be fired for his comments they have every right to do some come election time.  Or if they wish they can try and start a recall.

Once again, what is your point?

Are you actually equating what would be the old union line of cracking a few heads, to someone calling for the police to open fire on a peaceful protest?

That's pretty low even for you.

Are you actually making a strawman argument? [:D]

Decades ago I was in the Teamsters and I have a brother who's in the Teamsters now for over twenty years.
There was NEVER any violence by the Teamsters and if anyone says there is they get their fuckin' head cracked!

I'm very "Pro-Union."
I know, I know, how "Conservative" of me!

flcouple2009 -> RE: Wisconsin call for violence - where it really came from. (3/27/2011 11:34:50 AM)

No I am calling you an ass without a point.

Find me where I said either of them were right or wrong.  Find me where I called for either of them to be fired.

You have no point, your just trying to stir crap in your usual position of Flip Flop the Hypocrite.

Both of them were dumb asses for ever opening their mouths.  But someone who works as a DA has got to know when he starts calling for Police to fire on a peaceful protest he has just cooked his proverbial goose.

I love this, you cant make this kind of comedy up. [:D]

tazzy starts this thread worrying that some nobody state activist / deputy prosecutor could have violent leanings, and I guess we are all supposed to be just, absolutely gravely concerned and vote Democratic the rest of our lives due to this...

Meanwhile on another thread one of our oh-so open minded, and warm and fuzzy super cuddly liberal types openly brags that he daydreams about murdering innocent people with his car and we arent supposed to even notice it (I am guessing).

At least, no one has so much as raised an eyebrow over his statement yet...

Pops sure there have been cases of Union violence going back through the years.  People do stupid things.  My Dad wasn't in the union where he worked.  As a foreman in their structure he was a company guy.  The one time I remember them being on strike we had all 4 tires on one of our cars slashed overnight, twice.  There was some other assorted petty nonsense towards others as well.

But I do believe if you go back through history in this country most of the serious violence was committed by hired thugs of the companies.  Such as the violence committed during the mine wars in West Virginia.

I do believe that most of the talk about "cracking heads", "spilling some blood", "whatever it takes", is just rah rah rhetoric.

It's not smart and really has no place in the discussion.  But I still can't equate that with a DA making comments that Police should open fire on a peaceful unarmed crowd.
