MissImmortalPain -> RE: When a Dom is too laid back... (4/6/2011 4:40:04 PM)

I had a sub tell me I was to laid back once. The problem was he wasn't really sub ,and I knew it within five mins of meeting him face to face. I could never work up the energy to really dominate him the way he wanted because it was like tried to dominate an angry cat, or a retarded puppy. I just couldn't see the point in trying.

~~~Why hide it.Why fight it. This is who I am.Now show me who you are~~~
Whether or not someone views you as 'too laid back' is nothing to do with whether or not he is submissive and you're dominant.
It's a personality trait that can apply to any orientation.
Some people want to control the world and organise everything; other people want to understand and experience the world, which can be seen, in an ill-conceived fashion, to be laid back.
Personally, I lie somewhere in between: I'm assertive with the things that matter to me, but I like an easy life and to want to control everything? No chance.
I've actually had that problem a looong time ago. In the end, we just weren't compatible at all...on more than one level. With my other half..he's VERY dominating and controlling in all things...right down to what I wear. He has his laid back moments...but to be honest, lately, it's been me that's been..kinda slacking. I mouth off without thinking...Just a week ago I started talking back and snapping my fingers and rolling my neck..ya know..like black girls do sometimes and he just hauled back and yanked the hell out of my hair and held onto it until I shut the hell up. I dunno..sometimes I get into these little funks thinking I don't have to do what he tells me...and...well..I got checked. So I can't get too laidback even if I wanted to.
I believe it is a question of "fit". Some subs may rrquire more micro management then others. They just wouldn't be for me, as I am in the lay bak categorie as well.
But being laid back doesn't mean I am not a dom or I am lazy, just that I like to cruise thru life ... I enjoy that Cruising" very much.
Instead of claiming he wasn't a real sub, why not conclude that you aren't a real domme? Or try being adult about it and acknowledging that you simply weren't compatible. The blame game is never appropriate.
Thanks for psoting this Steven, I often hear the same thing. That because I am not rigid or demang enough that I am not a "real" dom. I think mostly it comes down to personal style and compatability, like so many others have said. I am sure you will find a lady that appericates your style and is compatable with you.
Hillwilliam -> RE: When a Dom is too laid back... (4/9/2011 6:42:20 PM)
I've been called too laid back before. I've been called too extreme (believe it or not LOL)
It's a simple compatibility issue. There is no "one size fits all" Dom just like there is no "one size fits all" sub.
That's what makes WIITWD soooooooooo damn much fun. Differences.
