For my cats I use sometimes rescue remedy, so when they are limping after a fight outside or whatever the reason was that caused them limping, I cover their limping area in it and it helps them a lot not to limp anymore. However I never imagined that it can cause that much difference and am really greatful to have seen how much it can do.

Also when I worked as a live-in carer one of my clients had a wound on her back which kept getting wet (it kept build regularly a white sticky cover on itself) and there a friend brought her a leaf from an aloa vera plant which she then instructed me to rub it onto that area of her back. That then stopped that wound to build up that white sticky stuff and it finally started to heal. Its just lovely to see what mother nature has available for us [:)]

yup, i use aloe straight from the plant or in gells. one of its best usages is for burns. i scolded my hand one christmas with boiling water straight from the kettle and used aloe-vera from the plant. i kept applying it everytime the sap dried up. instead of the blisters i should have got i just had sore skin that came right in a couple of days. arnica is great for bruising and bangs and such.

One person posted me (regarding burns) this email, but I would not dare to try it out (at least not if it is really autsch)

Once I was cooking some corn and stuck my fork in the boiling water to see if the corn was ready. I missed and my hand went into the boiling water....

A friend of mine, who was a Vietnam vet, came into the house, just as I was screaming, and asked me if I had some plain old flour...I pulled out a bag and he stuck my hand in it. He said to keep my hand in the flour for 10 mins. which I did. He said that in Vietnam , this guy
was on fire and in their panic, they threw a bag of flour all over him to put the fire out...well, it not only put the flour out, but he never even had a blister.! !

SOOOO, long story short, I put my hand in the bag of flour for 10 mins, pulled it out and had not even a red mark or a blister and absolutley NO PAIN. Now, I keep a bag of flour in the fridge and every time I burn myself,
I use the flour and never ONCE have I ever had a red spot, a burn or a blister.!
*cold flour feels even better than room temperature flour.

Miracle, if you ask me. Keep a bag of white flour in your fridge and you will be happy you did. I even burnt my tongue and put the flour on it for about 10 mins.
and the pain was gone and no burn. Try it! BTW, don't run your burn area under cold water first, just put it right into the flour for 10 mins and experience a miracle.

But yes I was really amazed how quick spicy stopped limping...Maybe we should post Holly a year supply [:)]

So yes, once my life is more stable again than it is right now I will spend a bit more time about that...it is fascinating.

I also still remember how I dismissed a colleague back home who was heavily into it...but what it did to this elderly woman and to my friend was just amazing.

The aromatherapist (we are still in touch) explained to me that some of these aromas also help to lift the spirit from the person who is affected from a stroke or another disabling condition which then itself is a good starting point to let the heal process get started.

So since then I know for sure that if I would know someone who is affected from it and am able to give that advice I will advice aromatherapy....I am very glad about that this woman got her independence back again. I think she remained living there as she just isn't as fit anymore as she used to be before that operation, but now at least she can carry out her personal care by herself again and eat by herself again etc....

On one occassion I attended an emergency supervision as I was furious big time about a colleague and remember how I swallowed three bottles of rescue remedy just to try to keep as calm as possible after what had happened....gosh I slept like a baby that night [:D]

Far out . . . .

Gawd. That makes me ponder all sorts of things. Did he see women as 'Goddesses' that he was 'made to worship'? Surely not. Frigging hell, though. The mind boggles.

Jean Jacques Rousseau, considered one of the founding fathers of liberalism, was also a sub. This is the thinker whose works helped precipate the French Revolution and who once said, 'Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains'. No chains for him, provided by some obliging femdom, though, poor sod.

Never put flour on a burn! It does not really help and poses a huge risk of infection.

Thanks...I thought it doesnt sound right...now...I burned myself a lot as a kid (iron, cooking plates etc and as my mum loves to say usually once wasn't enough until I believed that it hurts) and flour just sounded odd to me which is why I thought to see if someone here knows the answer and replied to the person who has send it to me that I will stick to water (as I had learned back home in the first aid course which I had to do for my apprentice ship to work with kids)...though, am happy to take the advice about aloe vera [:)]

I was very surprised when a copper bracelet stopped the arthritis pain in my hands. I work in the medical field - which is notoriously intolerant of alternate therapies and could find no rationale for this working.

BUT - a week after i put the bracelet on, i realised that i no longer hurt! Very surprising.

When I googled this, all I found was in relation to:
quote:

“Wives be submissive to your husbands”

which made me lol.

This:

The true horrors of pet food revealed: Prepare to be shocked by what goes into dog food and cat food

...This can include zoo animals, road kill, and 4-D (dead, diseased, disabled, dying) livestock. Most shockingly, this also can include dogs and cats. That's right, your pets could be cannibals. Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser writes, "Although leading American manufacturers promise never to put rendered pets into their pet food, it is still legal to do so. A Canadian company, Sanimal Inc., was putting 40,000 pounds of dead dogs and dead cats into its dog and cat food every week, until discontinuing the practice in June 2001. "This food is healthy and good," said the company's vice president of procurement, responding to critics, ''but some people don't like to see meat meal that contains any pets."

I believe "by-products" is the euphemism to avoid.

Just what is it you do in the medical field?

When I was a very young kid, my father listened to this morning mass Catholic thing on the radio every morning. I grew up kind of in awe of catholicism. My mother was a Jehovah's Witness, and she thought she was one of their "anointed" ones. That fucked me up, too. I grew up thinking that Xtains were all these good people who did all these good deeds and shit. I learned that the vast majority are mean-spirited shits who only practice their religion for 3 hours every Sunday. And that the worst of them are Refucklicans. I always thought Repubs were like Eisenhower and Goldwater, who actually wanted the best for people, and supported unions and healthcare and SS. Now those Republicans have died out, and the party has morphed into Refucklinazis, greedy little fuckwads like Scott Walker in Wisconsin, who deep in their black little hearts worship power and despise poor people, especially poor black people. I know exactly one Republican who is an Episcopalian, who practices her Xtianity. She is constantly busy cooking for poor people, and doing other similar things. She's also one of my 5 closest friends, one whom I can (and have) called at 3AM to help me get to the hospital. We both know how each of us feels about the others political beliefs, but we don't let that get in the way.

For me it was finding out that Hitler the most evil and psychotic bastard that ever walked the earth was a vegetarian.

In fact, he wasn't. He was on some sort of theosophist fad diet that was meant to be good for his health. It was mostly vegetarian, but he also had quite a taste for liver by most accounts. I suspect it might be fair to say that if you're eating a lot of sweetbreads, you're not a veggie.

Pre-made pet food might be convenient, but i'd never feed my animal that stuff. i have the same opinion about baby food as well. It doesn't require much effort to give them products that you've made yourself. i'm sad to say that the article was not a surprise.
