Sanity -> Mahdi is 'Near' (3/28/2011 11:14:38 AM)

The scary part is those immoderate loons actually believe this shit and are working to usher Mahdi in.

Iranian Video Says Mahdi is 'Near'

New evidence has emerged that the Iranian government sees the current unrest in the Middle East as a signal that the Mahdi--or Islamic messiah--is about to appear.

CBN News has obtained a never-before-seen video produced by the Iranian regime that says all the signs are moving into place -- and that Iran will soon help usher in the end times. While the revolutionary movements gripping the Middle East have created uncertainty throughout the region, the video shows that the Iranian regime believes the chaos is divine proof that their ultimate victory is at hand.

'The Coming is Near'

The propaganda footage has reportedly been approved at the highest levels of the Iranian government....

Hmmm.  Interesting, Sanity.  Makes me wonder if all religious faiths are preaching "the end is coming/near".  (btw, on a side tangent, that link you passed out last year, has condors in it this year, I hear.  I can't access the camera on my browser though.  Bummer)

The "ten toes" of the "beast" according to the Bible.

Do you think they have enough scimitars to pull this out their ass?

Mahdi (slinking away)

Mahdi is according to the Shea Muslims is just like a Jesus to Christians (a saver that will come in the end of days).
Personally I don’t believe that he is near or alive or any sort of that,
I don’t believe that he is coming after all,

What about the MAYA people & what they did prophet about the end of our world would be at 2012 about less than year from now.

I do believe that when the End of days comes, it will be manmade end…. Meaning that the end of the world would be by world War III, or (Armageddon). This was written in the bible.

flcouple2009 -> RE: Mahdi is 'Near' (3/28/2011 1:37:49 PM)

Unfortunately because of far right fundie relatives we get too many email forwards by that group creaming their pants that this could be  the end and Jesus may be here soon.

Same nuts just different flavors.

It is interesting.  For what is it worth, the main middle eastern countries where things have been "heating up" lately are Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, and Turkey... and Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia.  Five countries to the north, and five countries to the south of Israel.

Of course, that same configuration could probably be attributed to any number of countries, at any number of times through history.  [;)]

This is what you all get for reading a book without a happy ending.

Treasure, Afghanistan and Libya are not in the middle east. They are also neither north or south of Israel.

Seriously... does it really matter?  Do you think that modern day geographical boundaries were of much consideration when the prophesies were penned?  Is nit-picking your only joy in life?  [;)]

outhere69 -> RE: Mahdi is 'Near' (3/28/2011 7:09:13 PM)

Those prophecies (I'm assuming the Revelation here) were written during apocalyptic times.  The beast, iirc, was Nero, the 7 heads were the 7 hills of Rome.  I've heard a ton of meanings of 666, you can make it mean just about anything.  Even Reagan (Ronald Wilson Reagan, 6 letters in each name).  I don't see how anyone can claim to interpret something written 2000 years ago.

The whole "premillenial dispensationalist" doctrine was invented by one guy in the 19th century (Darby), and has no basis in Scripture.  It's full of "fudge factors" to make history fit into his dispensations.

The world was supposed to end right after Christ's ascension, then within a few hundred years, then in 1000 ad, and then a whole lot of other times.  The last I heard was 1982 (Hal Lindsey) and a few folks who believed 2000.

We are in an 80 year cycle- a great depression followed by a major war.

Some Aphgani film makers toured the town I live in this past week.   I had to laugh--   their impression of here....    of anything they could notice - it is the lack of traffic.   LOLOL.    (the busy street drives me crazy)

TheHeretic -> RE: Mahdi is 'Near' (3/28/2011 9:31:23 PM)

It just seems there is some tiny little difference here, between the apocalyptic Christians in the US, and the Iranians... What might it be? Oh yeah. Iran is a theocracy, and the fucks who preach this stuff control every lever of power.

Actually, its not only Revelation, its also Daniel.

Chapter two of Daniel describes an image with a head of gold, a chest and arms of silver, and a belly and thighs of brass. This image splits into two parts represented by its legs of iron. At the bottom of these two legs are feet with five toes each that are composed of iron and clay. During the time that these ten toes (kings/nations) exist, the stone (Jesus Christ) will be cut out of a mountain (the Kingdom of God) and smash the feet and toes (Dan.2:34-35).

The major thing that causes people confusion about the identity of the ten kings/nations symbolized by the ten toes in Daniel 2:34-35, the ten horns of Revelation 17:12-14, and the ten horns of Daniel 7:7 and Revelation 13:1-2 and 17:9-10, is not understanding that there are two distinct and separate 10 nation alliances being referred to in these scriptures. One ten nation alliance is the Beast (king of the north) who is allied with the Great Whore and the other ten nation alliance is an alliance of two groups of five nations that will combine to form the ten horns of the prophetic hour of Revelation 17:12-14 (the kings of the north and south).

Its a fascinating read.
