I rarely if ever quote the academics. I seek to learn from the brilliant people of all fields from the past and make my own conclusions. Most of what those thinkers from the past predicted about the future some good, most bad...turned out to be true.

My personal favorite pops position,and he is not the only CMer to advocate this solution, is the one that calls for seeding the southern border with land mines...nothing like seeding US soil with arbitrary anti-personal weapons [:)]

I’m late with a comment so if I am repeating forgive me. I learn from academics…I listen…I read… I form an opinion…I state that opinion. To me everything I say is an opinion because it is always possible to look at the same facts in different ways. Now if someone asks me why I believe in my opinion I will try to produce a reasonable source for my beliefs. Usually this source is one that I respect and believe to be factual and often is an academic whose professional field of study is relevant. None of us can be knowledgeable and trained in every field of study and we must all depend on academics. If we want to contribute intelligently to a conversation. I really don’t understand the big deal. Butch
