Sanity -> RE: I hope that dumbass preacher in fl is proud of himself (4/2/2011 11:25:04 AM)

What I find odd about this controversy is how, when one ditz in the West burns a Koran or draws a cartoon of Mohammad with a bomb in his turban and that somehow justifies Muslims on the other side of the globe rioting and murdering innocents by the score, while when they burn Christians or Hindus or 'witches' or stone rape victims we just yawn. No one over here really even hears about it.

Just another day, you know?

Muslims are free to walk anywhere in the West and our laws protect them, yet if we walk in their midst we must be "respectful' of their ways, in other words be very afraid or scared to be ourselves.

Call me a rebel but Ive always disagreed with such double standards.

Why would you bother to present a perspective that was not yours?

I think Stella was making the point that the Koran burning incident was likely just a flashpoint for a tremendous pool of hostility that is already present.

Do you think conversations should be restricted to offerings of the same viewpoints and perspectives?

FR

Black ops - ignoring their inherent nastiness for the moment - are such fun!

Oh dear
please do tell me how is that possible when Muslims are attacked in the street when the walk with a head cover for the females.
If they some how are not attacked, you look at them with disgusting look.

I used to live & grow up in the KSA, in there was group of (people working for aramco) they have their own beach so they can go naked on that beach.
but If I was on Miami beach ...... hell I would be alqaeda.

In Dubai these days you can be more yourself & i can be myself as well.
Its the socity that controles you.

My point is we are scared to be ourselves within your lows,
If you feel that i am talking ballshit, google is your friend & google (gwantanmo pay).

So stella

You think if US troops were not there the killings would not take place?

Can you as a civilized person imagine any insult that would inspire you to cut someones head off?

Do you find any blame in murder with the innocent victim?

Do you think the people killing are civilized?

Please let me know so I can take a measure of you.

Maybe you are of the type that thinks one atrocity gives you the right to commit another.

Butch

Maybe not when you've got occupying forces from half-way round the world in your country.

They were pissed at the idiot in Florida, so they started a protest and killed 9 innocent people who had nothing to do with the book burning. Not sure why the forces would be to blame or does their presence give anyone there the right to just start shooting when ever they feel offended by anything?

As long as you don't whip out your camera and otherwise behave, you would be welcome on Haulover Beach, just north of Miami Beach. The women may be hotter on South Beach, but we are nekked at Haulover;)

tweakabelle -> RE: I hope that dumbass preacher in fl is proud of himself (4/2/2011 5:24:13 PM)

At first glance, the actions of Jomes and the mullahs - one burnt a book, the others whipped a mob of illiterate peasants into a murderous frenzy - seem far apart. They are connected in that the latter was a direct consequence of the former. There are a number of other similarities between the Pastor Jones and the Afghani mullahs that are striking.
*Both were well aware of the possible consequences and probable outcomes of their actions.
*Both derive their authority from "holy books" and occupy similar positions of prestige in their respective communities.
*Both betrayed the trust their communities gave them.
*Both were professing outrage at the antics of the other.
*Both appealed to the lowest common denominator.
*Both resorted to violence to make their points.
*Both incited hate, directing that hate towards political targets for their own ends.
*Both were cynically manipulating their audiences for blatantly political purposes.
*Both achieved outcomes that are entirely destructive.
*Both will in all likelihood escape the prosecution they so richly deserve.

One came from a tradition that emphasises 'love', the other 'peace'. Does it matter which was which? Can anyone find any love or peace in the actions of any one involved in this sad episode? What do all these similarities tell us? Are Jones and the mullahs mirror images of each other? Why do religions seem to end up as the opposite of their intended goals so often?

There's another sad irony too. The location of the massacre, Mazar-I-Sharif is said to produce the world's finest quality hashish. So there is another level on which the inhabitants of that region and many Westerners can find some common ground. And very peaceful mutually beneficial common ground too. But, of course, that's highly illegal ......

We're gonna blame a redneck idiot for the fact that we have foreign workers in a country filled with even more idiotic savages?

Good one.

Sanity. This is kind of like a situation where you hate hornets.

The hornets have a nest that is not removable by normal actions hear a playground.

Do you go ahead and throw a rock at the hornet's nest when children are in the playground?

THAT is exactly what that dumbass preacher did to inflate his own ego and buy 15 minutes of fame.

Innocent people are DEAD because of his actions and he is probably proud of himself.

Do you support him? yes or no?

TheRaptorJesus -> RE: I hope that dumbass preacher in fl is proud of himself (4/2/2011 6:20:44 PM)

Innocent people are dead because a flood of religious morons decided to kill them because they have sand in their vaginas.

The unfortunate circumstance is that it's a region filled with sand so there is a surplus embedded in the collective shrouded vagina of the region.

Blame the killers.

Hillwilliam -> RE: I hope that dumbass preacher in fl is proud of himself (4/2/2011 6:33:01 PM)

Raptor, I blame the hornets.

I also blame the dumbass that threw rocks at their nest.

I blame faith itself.

I blame the misappropriation of faith, and no I am not all that faithful [:)].

That's bullshit. Faith is belief without evidence. Jones has faith that what the bible tells him is true; "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Allah is another god. Perfectly rational behavior to oppose allah because of his faith. Those shitheads who lashed the 14y.o. to death in Bungled Mess because she committed adultery were doing EXACTLY what their faith says. The animals who committed the atrocity in Mazar-i-Sharif were doing what their faith commands them to do: kill unbelievers.

There's no "misappropriation" here.

slvemike4u -> RE: I hope that dumbass preacher in fl is proud of himself (4/2/2011 9:51:56 PM)

Fine, would you prefer the word "distortion"? Surely you are not taking the position that any ,save the zealot, actually intends that ancient tracts be taken literally.

Distortion is better.

This is what their "ancient tracts" tell them to do. How do you know they aren't doing the right thing? Would you tell the ancient Aztecs they couldn't cut the hearts out of people to sacrifice to Kulkulkan? That's their faith.

They are not zealots - you misunderstand them completely.

These are people who are perfect in their faith. They adhere to it unquestioningly. They follow the strictures of their ancient tracts to the letter of the law. The law of their gods. and the law of their gods say that adulterers are to be punished or killed, that there be no false idols (the Koran), that war shall be waged on the infidels.

Repeat read the above if need be. You call them "zealots" but what they are really doing is taking the word of their god to heart. And when you miss that point or obscure it or try arguing that they are "distorting" their religion, implying either implicitly or explicitly that those who do not follow their ancient tracts scrupulously are the ones who have it right - you are a part of the problem.
