Thank you for being a little more candid about how much you hate people who have to rely on larger capacity vehicles taz, kinda buffers my point that despite all the spin leftist / greens really savor these higher prices.

No one has to rely upon those types of vehicles. They choose too. If they choose too, then they pay the price at the pumps. Myself, I use public transportation whenever possible.

quote:

With more domestic production we wouldnt be so susceptible to problems outside our borders and like it or not and despite all the spin a majority of voters will hold Democrats responsible for the high fuel prices as well as the harm they do to the economy, and thats good because thats squarely where the blame belongs.

The blame doesnt belong there, Sanity. It belongs with every administration. Why werent checks and balances implemented with the oil drilling? Thats hardly something new that began with Obama. The moratorium's were necessary to make big oil fess up to the problems with their own designs and lack of contingency plans for problems.

Youre not going to haul a heavy load, or a large family or other group etc in a Prius, and on top of that theres that leftist hatred for liberty rearing its ugly head again

All oil is not the same. Libyan crude is especially light, making it ideal for jet fuel and kerosene. To refine other oils for these purposes requires four times as much oil--hence the spike in prices.

The takeaway here is still lowering demand. We can build efficient homes--we just don't. We can move toward efficient autos too...this is all 70s stuff we started but then stopped, losing three decades. But we can start again, seriously and with commitment this time. If we choose.

There are larger cars than a prius who get better gas mileage than an SUV.

Have a large family but cant afford it? I cant seem to shed a tear.

As far as liberty talk, no one is saying you cant drive one. Just dont bitch about it when you cant afford the toys you decide to play with.

Is it going to take $10/gal gas, before people take the reduce in "Reduce, re-use, recycle"
seriously??

Care to expand on how your statement relates to the topic at hand?

Welcome to CM and the boards, too. Lovely profile pics. Have you considered formally introducing yourself in the introductions forum?

In that case blame China...we have always been gluttonous consumers, they are the new kids trying to emulate us (in their spiking usage of course, not in a political sense)

Congratulations. You sound exactly like a Brit.

The US is the one and only cause (or 'sole proprietors') of trouble in the world. You are new here, but read the archives to further reinforce your already made up mind there.

You will enjoy it.

Not that I would expect you to actually read the whole thread and understand that some few Americans have given the most pertinent information on the subject at hand. That would be making the assumption that you could understand anything beyond getting your shoes tied.

If you had read all my posts on this thread alone, you would have seen than I am not an "America First, now and forever" sort of person.

One reason gas prices are going up is the sheer volume of increased need world-wide (Agreed, China is a big new consumer in this area). Another reason gas prices are going up is because people will pay the going rate for it.

If alternate means of energy were developed IN CONJUNCTION WITH decreased demand (more efficiency of what we do use), the price per barrel would plummet.

You've made quite a splash with only 4 posts. Congratulations!

If you used the "reply" or "quote" button above the post you are replying too, it would be helpful.

Anyone who's misunderstanding you is probably not trying too hard, and is probably interpreting your posts through their own biases. I have no problem understanding you at all, and I mostly  agree with your original fundamental point. I don't see what the problem is; you're not saying anything different from what a lot of us have said many times before.

And if you genuinely love America, you're one up on me. I've lived here my whole life, and I sure don't love it. I just live here, that's all. Too goddamned many Americans infesting the place; it'd be a great place to live if they'd just get the fuck out.

Oh - and welcome to the forums.

Sorry, but your facts are fuzzy.

The dollar isn't on the decline next to other currencies--in fact, it's still where international investors are turning.

The U.S. has borrowed quite a bit from China, but much more from the EU. The majority of the debt is still held by U.S. citizens.

In short...you lent us the money. Seems you consider us a good investment still. That's because we're 1/5 of the global economy, twice the the GDP of China.

Hien is right, though--NONE of that has ANYTHING to do with what I posted about building efficient homes and vehicles, which benefits us all.
