I had 15 piercings once. now i only have 7

BKSir -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 2:00:49 PM)

Had/have 4 holes in my ears, 2 each, but don't really get the chance to wear the earrings anymore, what with having a "respectable grown up position" at work. Have a few tattoos, nothing huge or intrusive though, thankfully. Thinking of getting rid of all but one or maybe two of them though.

MaxsBoy -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 2:25:48 PM)

Just the tongue pierced right now.  I had my ears done (one each side) and a ring in my nose, but they're grown out now.  I have one small tattoo on the back of my right shoulder - it's the Uffington horse layered over the Newgrange triple spiral.  I also have a back piece in progress, which is just an outline at the moment but will be getting more work soon.  It's a punk version of Kali standing on Shiva.  Both my tats are very important religious symbols to me.  I have at least one more in the works, but any new ink will have to wait until my back is done.

Art should be on the wall.

And piercings...well...I eat with a knife & fork so that should let you know.

art doesnt have to be on the wall, art is an expression, and if a person wants to express it on their body then thats their choice.
and i dont see how eating with a knife and fork has anything to do with piercings.

Oh God, you're like a walking inspirational commercial.

Art should be in the soul and displayed wherever possible.

So you're a klutz and that means you have your tongue, lips and cheeks pierced multiple times, right?

You're right, art should be in the soul.  I don't need some weirdo working in a roach-infested rundown building to visually express what I emanate already.

MissAsylum -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 2:51:02 PM)

I currently have 4 tattoos (quarter sleeve of a branch of cherry blossoms, nearly a half sleeve of a koi, waves, and plumeria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plumeria) [photos: http://www.collarchat.com/m_3626223/tm.htm], 2 stars on my pelvic bone on either side, and a quote in latin on my left rib "Let them hate, so long as they fear") and i have 4 piercings. 2 in each ear- one in each ear currently stretched to a 0g.

XXMystiqueXX -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 3:03:28 PM)

Got my first tat over 30 years ago........ a rose on my shoulder because I was 18 and my mother threatened to kick me out of the house if I came home w/ a tattoo.  LOL.  A few years later I got a butterfly to impress the current boyfriend done below the pelvic bone.  Third tat was done about 6 years ago... the kenji for "slave girl" on my right breast.  As for piercings.... At one time I had 12... 5 in each ear and both nipples.  It got to be a pain removing them each time I had surgery so that ended that.  Currently I wear only a pair of earrings <G>  Will leave all the other piercings to the young'uns!

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 3:27:56 PM)

I got my first piercings, one in each ear, in 1967. They were done with a needle & thread by an exotic dancer who danced with a boa constrictor. One had to be re-pierced in the dressing room by another dancer when the thread broke. I've gone as long as a couple of years without putting earrings in & they don't really close up. I shared a piercing in my right ear with my daughter, who got her left ear done. I got my first tattoo when the kid was 19, so 22 years ago. I have an affinity for flamingos, so it's a flamingo wearing red Lolita heart-shaped sunglasses.

When I went to Hawai'i in the early 90's I decided to end the trip with a large piece on the back of my right shoulder, of a hibiscus vine & a multi-colored butterfly. When His Evilness collared me, he had me put an "M" on the back of my neck, surrounded by a little tribal & I got both nipples pierced at the same time. Last year, the ball fell off the left nipple jewelry & I took it out, so I'm kinda lopsided now. One day soon, I will get that re-pierced.

I have plans for 2 more tats: One of a spider, probably a Golden Orb & the other a larger back piece, lower down on the left of a peacock with furled tail.

Dude, you gotta get out more.  You are seriously sheltered/misinformed.  Here in the States, tattoo artists have to pass a health inspection to get a license.  Unless you're getting prison ink, most people go to a licensed tattooist.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 4:03:39 PM)

Ink and holes, holes and ink, there is not better way to show the world what I think.

Ears-six
Tongue-twice
Lip-snake bites
Nipples
Used to have one in my hood but for medical reasons it is gone now.
Will be getting an anit-eyebrow done this weekend

Dragon-left collar bone
Dragon-left ankle
Jaded heart and name by which most people call me-around the right wrist
Rose-right hand
Lighting bolt-right breast
Star-left breast
Star-upper right hip
Son's name-upper left arm
Am having work done on a phoenix now-lower left arm

When your body carrys the kind of scars mine does, you turn it into art or you die.

Well you see, I go about my life in a different way.  While most people like to treat their bodies like sewers, I like to treat mine with respect.  Tell you what, when you're 60 and all wrinkled out, we'll see how well that "self-expression" went for you.  If I did get a tattoo, it would be a tattoo of directions to a laser removal center.  Hahaha.

Plus, they all look gross.  It's such a turn-off.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 4:41:47 PM)

It's a cultural thing for me.  At least two branches of my ancestors (Aztecs, Celts) were pioneers in piercing and tattooing.  As long as the body modifications are tasteful, I prefer alternative looks.  They're just more attractive.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 4:43:50 PM)

And you striked me as such a classy girl!

I am disappoint.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 4:47:06 PM)

My ears are pierced, sorta. I have a strange body chemistry that seriously, and with a vengence, rejects damn near any metal I try to put into it (probably my Fae heritage!) For a short time I had my labia pierced - didn't last very long. I also had my upper ear pierced, as a requirement when I was collared to a house. When my ear swelled up over the piercing, they allowed me to remove it. Owie!

No tattoos. I don't think I'll ever wake up with a hankering to have a bunch of needles power driven repeatedly into my flesh. Just not my thang, yanno.

TheShrew -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 4:47:58 PM)

5 piercings, 1 tatt.

Guess we're both disappointed.

Have you tried titanium or niobium?  They work better for people with metal allergies or rejection issues.  (Fae heritage, ftw!)

I have each ear pierced once. Zero tattoos.

I have no plans for additional piercings or any tattoos.

I do not find the current trend of tattoos and multiple piercings attractive at all.

What LaT said.

Except... some tattoos/piercings i do find attractive and/or can appreciate the art in them. [:)]

NocturnalStalker -> RE: tattoos and piercings (4/11/2011 4:56:01 PM)

I think the smart person opts to not have their body disfigured.

But I'll let you think about that when you're getting inked up by a gangly punk with a neon green mohawk and combat boots named "Carver." [;)]

Caligula, hawt.

This would be a good title for a Joe Abercrombie novel.

I'd love to see a sketch or a pic of the outline!

When I was a new yoga teacher and nailing down my music, I noticed that I was using predominantly Kali and Shiva songs.
