I am sure that anyone that has read my writing here for any length of time knows my love of cooking and food. I am the sort of weirdo that will watch Bourdain eating a soup that makes him orgasmic in Vietnam and start Googling, cruising recipes based upon the description given, madly scribbling, printing stuff out....the wander the grocery stores for ingredients. The sort of weirdo that thinks a great weekend is one where I get to spend some uninterupted time in the kitchen experimenting. I rarely follow a recipe exactly. Or do so once, then start tweaking it. I love finding ways to cook really healthy foods, from good ingredients, and make it taste fantastic. There is no type of cuisine that I won't try. I adore Italian....love making my own pasta and usually have some home made marinara in the freezer, or the ingredients to make it. I buy olive oil and garlic in restaurant supply size. Mexican food, both authentic and the American version, I love to play with. Stir frys are like fast food for me, so easy. I excel at home made soups, pies, breads. Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday because I get to cook a lot of delicious food and share it. Baking a batch of cookies or a cake, I don't get to do often enough but it's simple stuff. Unlike many good cooks, I love having others cook for me......if they are reasonably competent. I also am perfectly happy with a grilled cheese sandwich and Campbells tomato soup on a cold rainy night. In fact, it is one of my favs. If I had a slave in service, I would adore her help.......especially in the cleaning process. Once I get finished with a big cooking frenzy there is nothing I like better than to just plant my ass on the sofa and ignore the dishes and tidying up. I forgot to answer the what usually eat part. The last few days, for breakfast, I've had a slice of home made cinnamon raisin bread that I made on Sunday. Lunch has been a salad with mixed greens, feta, tomatoes, balsamic vinegarette. Many times it is Pho made with leftover broth and lots of that yummy hot sauce. A snack at 3 was some raspberries I froze last summer, some plain Kalona yogurt and a banana, all mixed together. Then after yoga, I cheated on Nathan's dogs and two little Dove's darks. Yesterday was the same except for dinner. Last night it was some home made ham and beans I had in the freezer and some freshly baked corn bread....the left overs of corn bread will probably be tomorrows breakfast if GD doesn't grab it for his late night snack!
