I read about that.

I don't care so much about the injunction as about the existence of that satirist. As so often, and for so many different reasons, I think: Aussies are excellent people. They have iron in their brains.

I noticed he had a bit of problem with the ring due to the bride's chubby fingers.

This is the moment that stood out for me.

Edited to add the possessive apostrophe thing.

Ooo...another reason I don't need to join Facebook. :) Not that I needed another reason. Even though I have no use for Facebook, since they are an independently owned entity, I suppose it is their right to do whatever they please with their site, within the confines of the law, even if that means ousting various members.

THe ceremony and surroundings were beautiful. I loved the trees that will later be replanted. It gave it almost a medieval outdoor wedding feel. It sorta reminded me of Sleeping Beauty for some reason. I loved the classic, elegant gown. It was understated but fit her well. I don't understand why she wore her hair down though. I was hoping for a tight chignon with a little higher of a tiara. She still looked beautiful though.

All my best wishes to them both.

Oh, ditto on all points!

I had some other observations whilst watching the parts I watched.

Prince Harry walks like he's slightly bow-legged...what's that all about?

When Prince Charlies arrived, I couldn't help notice how immediately after giving his nose a wipe with his right hand, he extended that same hand in greeting to one of the clergy members. Ewww!! *LOL*

When the Queen arrived at the Abbey, Camilla curtsies and shakes the Queen's hand...the expression on the Queen's face (despite her smile) seemed to say "oh yes...you"

William's cousins...the two princesses...what the hell! No fashion sense for certain. And Princess Beatrice's hat? Yeah, she's getting maligned for that choice, but seriously....didn't she look in a mirror? Yikes!

Gotta reiterate littlewonder's comments...loved the trees inside the Abbey.

Is there really an unknown soldier buried at the tomb of the unknown soldier?

Kate's father...just a bit nervous? I noticed him wiping his brow at the alter, and later on sitting in the front row as well.

I like how some of the people they focused on during singing of various hymns were pretty much just lost and not even singing the proper words...even though they had the words in their program...it was basically "oh just fuck it". *LOL*

A small twisted part of me was almost wanting to see Kate respond to the question "do you take this man..." by saying "hell no!" turn around and run back down the aisle. *LOL*

The whole "if you know of any reason you should not be married" bit would have scared the crap out of me. I'd be thinking "what if there IS a reason? one I've forgotten?"...yeah, I'm irrational that way. :P

I was pleasantly surprised by Reverend Richard Chartres' sermon. I really loved most of it!

The only one not singing during "God Save the Queen" is, of course, the Queen herself. I wonder what goes on in her mind during events she's at when that song is sung?

Overall, the whole thing exuded happiness. I thought it was a wonderful day for the happy couple. :)

Really? You'd prefer they take after a spoiled self-centereed little brat rather than a highly intelligent and dedicated servant of the people? Luckily for us it seems you are wrong, at least in the case of William...Harry I'm not so sure of. He seems a lot like his mother, but thankfully he's unlikely to ever take the throne.

You know, this really bothers me.

Prince Charles, who proposed to her in good faith was in love with someone that the Queen did not approve of and he wasn't getting any younger.

Diana Spencer was 19 years old, shy, a nursery school teacher, and quite pretty... and the Queen did approve.

Do you think she really could have said no?

She did a lot of charitable works both before and after the divorce.

She thought it important that her sons have more profound lessons than what was traditional for other royal children, which included taking them to homeless shelters and AIDS clinics.

It is very ill manners to speak of the dead especially on her son's wedding day.

I'm with you angelikaJ...quite frankly, I never saw Diana as self-centered spoiled brat. I never saw behaviour that exhibited that sort of description. Whereas with Charles...well...read this article to get a sense of what his own countrymen think of him.

I havent read the link, but Charles is a result of his upbringing. He's also mellowed over the years.

As to the wedding, its British pomp and pageantry at its best, with a great dose of modern day realism added.

Those spouting costs to the country will prob be supporting the next lunatic fringe demo in London thats equally expensive, but because they will be there, thats OK!!!!!

Just to add, i think they both looked great, and wish them all happiness in the future.

oh wow...amazing. That had to take forever and ever to decorate with all the tiny intricate details. Beautiful. I love the look of the draping lace.

Wills choice, which is the second cake, is a choc biscuit contraption, that we're told the recipe might be released for.

I watched for the dress and the marvelous hats. I wish hats were in vogue here in the USA I would have a ton of them.
I watched for fashion... and then I watched because they seemed happy and certain in their choice. These are not young kids who have only known each other for months. They were not soulmates based on a few months of online chatting and bonding. They live together and have gotten a glimpse of what their life will be and they STILL chose to go ahead with it. I watched because William looked properly nervous and then at ease. And Kate looked happy and determined. Harry seemed almost ebullient in his reaction to the ceremony. And Pippa looked like she wanted everything to go right.
I watched because they seem to love each other and I wish them well for decades to come.

Wow. I've never seen an image before that captures the similarities between this particular mother and son this well.

Hey, I just noticed something else...during their vows, Kate is holding William's hand...and during that whole hand-holding moment, William looks like he's trying to hold back laughing. Shouldn't it be William holding Kate's hand? A possible "oops" that likely William was hoping no one noticed? :D

If you go to Google maps and type in Buckingham Palace...then drag that little man down to the street level...the little man turns into a couple...a wedding couple. :D

saw bits of the wedding tonight..

Kates dress was STUNNING, and the recpetion dress was, as well.

Personally, I think that this marriage may very well usher in a new era/style of Monarchy....  Both William and Kate are products not only of their parents, but also the WORLD in which they live.  I think their style of monarchy will be drastically different from any seen before.

IMO, of course...

2 GT: That seems to be the impression they have given. The reports that they will be living without servants in a town in Wales while William does his pilot work with search and rescue. A far cry from his father who reportedly had servants put toothpaste onto his toothbrush. Yikes!

I very much liked her dress as well. I had a strong sense her choice would involve something classic that would "stand the test of time". It really does look quite a lot like Grace Kelly's dress. And it will look as stylish years from now as it does today...IMO. :)

William is very much his mother's son, she raised him for 16 years.
One of the issues the Monarchy had with her was that when they were young, she raised the boys and not nannies and governesses.
That was simply not done.

Spoiled and self-centered; a brat??
I just don't see it that way at all.

The reports that they will be living without servants in a town in Wales while William does his pilot work with search and rescue. A far cry from his father who reportedly had servants put toothpaste onto his toothbrush. Yikes!

That certainly is not from his father's influence, but his mother's insistence that he grow up seeing the real world.

Ha, I was flipping around the channels last night and it seemed like every station had at least one gay guy commentator absolutely *gushing* about the wedding. lol
Why do gay guys like weddings? PaHunk, what's up with that?
Even Anderson Cooper was ooohing and ahhhing.

I am interested up to a point-- but then after a while all weddings look alike.  Take for instance the dress.  I would have went with red.  White is so predictable.

When flipping channels I seen abit of the recap-  the hostess was doing a teaser-  which then went to a commercial. I would have watched more- but other then the teaser it looked boring.

As far as commercials go- they totally ruin-  - that yard top 10 show.   Even to fast forward thu it is nothing but noise.

Lets take-  Oprah- with all of her money she still needs 20 minutes of commercials in an hour?

If the happy couple is in love-  good for them.

It was alot of commotion over nothing tho.      PS- Popeye,  as to the gays gushing thing-  that Logo channel takes the cake... mostly drag shows.  argh.
