what ever you believe and practice is yourr religion.

I am not an atheist. It is all well and good you want to practice your religion where ever you are. It is quite another statement when you expect me to join in it with you in a public place. You want to sing religious songs in a federal building... go you! You want to pray outside of a courtroom, or even inside of one as long as you keep quiet while people are doing their business, go you! You want to post the Ten Commandments at the same courthouse... that is where I draw my line. I have no use for the 10 commandments. I do not think that they are appropriate to post as a religious statement.

As far as school goes. No one says that kids cannot do whatever they want with their quiet time. No one can police people praying quietly to themselves. Unfortunately, the evangelicals of this country are not happy to pray to themselves, because their entire goal is to preach and proclaim the Good News for nonbelievers. This is something they believe their religion tasks them to do. The problem with this is that my religious views were such that I did not want my son praying with random people I do not know in some way that was contrary to my own beliefs. His spiritual growth was my responsibility. I did not send him to school to be indoctrinated into some bastardized version of Christianity such as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell espouse. Now, perhaps you are not as discriminating with your own offspring, and you would let them be led down the path to religious zealotry and pray with people who are demented and sick in the head... personally, I didn't want my son praying with those types of people...

There is no reason to be offended by the ban of religion in schools other than you can't brainwash other people's children to follow your beliefs. Your religious freedom ends at my front door, and my children are mine, not yours.

Yes, I have beliefs, never hear me say otherwise. Isn't it ironic that you pegged me for an atheist because I am not an evangelical christian... you are, good for you, but you aren't going to shove your beliefs down my throat.

Just because you are well educated, articulate, and can use big, fancy words, properly........does not mean you are right!
