Anernin: My first thought was : How many miracles would it take to convince people ? There will always be non believers and those who will debunk the miracles. God never promised miracles for eternity. There are miracles in every religion, but I can only speak for my own as I am not as familiar with the miracles of Islam, Hindu etc. For me : Exodus 34:10: Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the LORD, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you. The Lord was speaking to Moses and his people. He did not say he would create miracles for eternity, he said he would produce miracles for Moses and his people. * I * interpret that to be the Jews that were with Moses at the time, not the entire Jewish population for ever and ever. There is plenty of data available that backs up or explains some of the Biblical miracles. For each miracle a scientist tries to explain through natural occurances or a scientific logic, there are 10 more who will try and disprove that. It's a funny thing to me. Why such a determination to disprove what may prove something Biblical. < rhetorical > Why can't science and Religion co exist. In my world they do. I also believe we do see miracles, we just don't recognize them as such. In Biblical times people were of a simpler mind than we have evolved to be. Sooo.. if we were to try and imagine living in that time with some of todays happenings we quite possibly could see what we currently see as interesting, cute or unusual as a miracle. Let's say one of the miracles in the Bible said: "And Jesus made the great cat lay down with the sea serpants". In todays world perhaps it was this they wittnessed : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VvFUblt6Cw If that were a Biblical or ancient story, scientists could easily say it's impossible for a mammel to lay with a fish, a mammel cannot live in water and a fish could not live on land. Easily disproving the cat and fish story, but nature is a powerful gift from God < imo > and miracles happen all the time in nature. But in the end it comes down to Faith. Faith cannot be explained scientifically and many will reject that which they cannot see with their own eyes or comprehend with their minds. As firm as some are in their disbelief of religious miracles, there are those who are equally firm in their legitamacy and no amount of debunking will change that which they believe and don't need to see or experince to believe. I happen to agree with Tazzy. While your intent may not have been to bash religion, we all know that is exactly what happens here whenever a person tries to present a question/theory about religion. The best of intentions on a reasonable religous conversation is an open invitation for some to bash the people of faith. mbmbn
