It wasn't cancelled, it actually finished it's story arc, but I found Babylon 5 a couple years ago and just love it for the richness of the writing and excellent acting.

<bonks self on head>  Cannot believe I forgot to add Babylon 5 to my list and now it is too late to edit.  I have all of the seasons.

I would love to get my hands on all of the seasons of the old Battlestar Galactica with Lorne Green, and all the seasons of Quincy (sp?), and at least the first one of Doogie Howser, MD.  I bought two sets of seasons one and two of Quincey, (a good three years apart, at the mall) and both new sets had defects that ruined several episodes.  My son is nuts over it.

I discovered "My name is Earl" after it was cancelled.
[:(]
I love that show! It is quirky, lame, and funny as heck all rolled up in one.
I wish some shows could at least come back for a year on a lessor channel for those of us who missed it the first time and would like to see a conclusion.

I like this post.. in that you explain WHY you like the show.   I will have to check it out.

Wow, thanks Julia.  I had been thinking about reading the books.
For some reason, I haven't returned to the Goodkind series, as opposed to Robert Jordan's Magnum Opus.

Crusade was an offshoot of B5 which had much promise, which got canceled. Jeremiah, also by Joe Straczynski, only made it 2 seasons (Netflix streaming).

I recently rewatched Star Trek DS9, which had the best writing and character development of all the STs, IMO. I also go back to Enterprise.

I was late to the party on Stargate SG-1 also. Initially the T'ealc character was a turnoff, but a couple years down the road I gave the series a second chance, and it's now one of my faves.

I liked this one when it was out.   As a rule I do not do soaps-  but this one was good.

Most of the shows I've discovered after canceling have already been mentioned here, but one has been notable lacking: Dollhouse.

It's by the creator of Firefly, and I think it's one of the most underrated shows of the millennia.

The first couple episodes give the impression that the premise of the show is predictable, but soon, once the show reaches full speed, you will be blown away over and over and over again. The end result is a show that asks some deep philosophical questions about the meaning and value of freedom and slavery, while never becoming heavy or stale, and never losing it's humor or passion.

It's available on Netflix and because of that, I went through the full two seasons in a single weekend. Once I got hooked I literally couldn't stop watching till the end.

It's got my highest recommendation.

When that was on, I was living in the States. I would answer the phone, "Hello, the West Wing is on." Invariably, people would say, "I'll call you in an hour." Yup.

I loved that show! My favorite character was Ainsley Hayes. She was smart, clear-minded, and a Republican. I loved that they explained things really beautifully from the Republican perspective through her. It was an eye-opening experience watching her. I never understood why women wouldn't agree with the Equal Rights Amendment until I saw this episode:

Same thing happens over here - prime time slots are taken up with the like of the X-Factor so you have to scrat around on the obscure channels for something decent.

Usually the decent stuff is from Sweden or Denmark - they make some excellent, gritty police dramas over there.

Yeah it is true we on occasion makes some quite decent stuff here, but mainstream is the same with X factor and all their crappy realityprogram and quizshows.
Funny enough i think the brits tend to make quite exellent crimis and specially the older comedy stuff is exellent. Yes, Minister must be one of the best satire programs ever made. Keeping up with appearances is also worth a revisit and of course anything with John Cleese is just great.

Ah yes...  keeping up appearances.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keeping_Up_Appearances     A good show.

This goes back a ways but I caught Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman when in was in syndication in the early 80s and thought the writing was brilliant along with the performances.

Fernwood Tonight was a parody talk show spin-off.

I did not catch the Craig Ferguson show from the beginning.
I watched him the night Johnny Carson died and found something especially poignant and personal about his tribute.
And then there was the night that he waked his dad on the show with him sharing his vulnerability and I discovered something really special.

Because I get up so damn early every morning, I have taken to watching a show called Numbers on TNT before I head off to the gym.
All about a matmatician(genius) that helps his brother the FBI agent solve crimes using math and probability. I am sure it was short lived but, for some reason I like the show, and I don't really watch much aside from ESPN, sporting events and the news. Oh and 2 and 1/2 Men<----shut up and get back to work Charlie!
