Actually there is some supporting evidence, if you care to read it. Already other groups associated with Osama Bin Laden have vowed revenge for his martyrdom.

Unless you are going to claim that they are in on the hoax as well.

Personally I wish they would start a new section of the board for you conspiracy nut jobs to use and leave it out of a serious discussion.

We have to understand that Europeans are used to having the head of the vanquished lopped off and plunked on a pole for all to see, for years, as it rots.

We have to give cultural differences a bow here. DNA results just doesn't cut it as substitute for Ravens plucking at the eyeballs, you understand.


They wrote operas about this stuff. Salomé didn't say "bring me his DNA!"


The head was the only thing that would suffice.

Ken, according to this, http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/04/seal-team-6-inside-osama they are based in Dam Neck, VA. You are correct, though, in their training being at Coronado.

There are also teams based in Coronado. I'm assuming they keep 6 on the east coast to save a few hours for deployment in that direction and to keep them closer to Delta and Foggy Bottom.

That assumption could be way off.

Now I heard it tonight of the squaddies present, if it had been the SAS, Osama would come back in chains for the world to see him answer for his crimes.

But there are reports of an operation, a killing and a dumping at sea, how easily are some people satisfied.

Personally, I would have preffered a captured foe to face charges and if found guilty, like Rudolph Hess spend the rest of their lives in captivity, an exhibit if you like that the world is capable of bringing bad people to book.

Instead we have forces in the world who like those they act against do the same thing, which will be seen by many worldwide as yet more injustice and there fuel the fight against the oppressor.

The thing is, to be morally correct, we have to act morally correct and although we might wish to see a foe dead, we have to do the right thing and comply with the laws we set for ourselves, as anything else makes a mockery of the idea of a better society. No matter how good it makes us feel to learn of a foe's death, we are nothing, if we do not follow our own code. When it comes to stooping to the level at which foes operate at, we make ourselves morally no better than they.

Morally correct to what degree?

Should we have let members of that SEAL team die to pursue your ideal of morality to capture rather than kill a mass murderer?
