NocturnalStalker -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:17:26 AM)

You all need to admit that I have a cult leader-like hold.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:17:31 AM)

Liken?  No.  I stated I am a vampire.  The question then becomes how the word is used in this context.  I can assure you it isn't the same as how you use it.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:20:13 AM)

Yeah, you're the more "Hollywood" version.

quote:

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
if you pardon, we will mend:
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call;
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:21:28 AM)

And you're the "lifestyler" - aka poser - version.

What are you trying to say there, Lance ?

I thought maybe D&D also used XYZZY.

XYZZY is a "magic" word in the old, old, I mean VERY old "Adventure" game.  It was the predessor to just about every interactive computer game ever written.

OOPS!  Excuse me, NS.  The game was "created during the 1975-76 academic year," says Wiki, so I have to stay on topic and ask, "How old were YOU that year?"

NocturnalStalker -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:22:50 AM)

I heard there's a new Anne Rice novel out that further makes vampires look like weaklings for your type to indulge in.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:25:18 AM)

I wouldn't know since I don't read Anne Rice.  I'm pretty sure you've broken the Masquerade enough times for the Prince to call a bloodhunt on you though.  You might want to start running now.

To be fair i wasn't born then either...

I lost count of the grammar errors in this sentence, but the worst is "lack of antecedent."

Did YOU mean Syl or me when YOU typed "your type"?

Funny!  So tell me, how would you "define yourself?"

BOTTOM
Why do they run away? this is a knavery of them to
make me afeard.

Re-enter SNOUT

SNOUT
O Bottom, thou art changed! what do I see on thee?

BOTTOM
What do you see? you see an asshead of your own, do
you?

Exit SNOUT

Re-enter QUINCE

QUINCE
Bless thee, Bottom! bless thee! thou art
translated.

Exit

BOTTOM
I see their knavery: this is to make an ass of me;
to fright me, if they could. But I will not stir
from this place, do what they can: I will walk up
and down here, and I will sing, that they shall hear
I am not afraid.

Sings

The ousel cock so black of hue,
With orange-tawny bill,
The throstle with his note so true,
The wren with little quill,--

TITANIA
[Awaking] What angel wakes me from my flowery bed?

BOTTOM
[Sings]
The finch, the sparrow and the lark,
The plain-song cuckoo gray,
Whose note full many a man doth mark,
And dares not answer nay;--
for, indeed, who would set his wit to so foolish
a bird? who would give a bird the lie, though he cry
'cuckoo' never so?

TITANIA
I pray thee, gentle mortal, sing again:
Mine ear is much enamour'd of thy note;
So is mine eye enthralled to thy shape;
And thy fair virtue's force perforce doth move me
On the first view to say, to swear, I love thee.

BOTTOM
Methinks, mistress, you should have little reason
for that: and yet, to say the truth, reason and
love keep little company together now-a-days; the
more the pity that some honest neighbours will not
make them friends. Nay, I can gleek upon occasion.

TITANIA
Thou art as wise as thou art beautiful.

Yep, this is what this reminds me of...

Don't they teach you to read up there ?

LanceHughes -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:35:44 AM)

So, we're naught but monkeys, typing at random and have finally typed some Shakespeare?

If so, I say "Good for us all."

And good night to all.

"Goodnight Sweet Prince and flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest"  Oh, wait... Hamlet is dead by that line..... maybe the vampire theme isn't dead yet.  BLEAH!  Obviously, Mr. Hughes is tired.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:36:22 AM)

That is a matter for CMail.  However, if you'd like to get a head start on your education, I recommend Joseph Laycock's book, based on his academic study.  Joe holds a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and is a PhD candidate at Boston University.  It's a text book, so it's a bit more expensive than you might expect, and it's got the worst dust jacket EVER, but the research is excellent.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:40:42 AM)

"Elf vampires."

That sounds like a horrible fanfiction.  Not to mention it looks like they'd have more in common with a succubus.

Vampiric =/= Vampire.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:42:54 AM)

A blood fetishist in goth drag =/= vampire either.

There you go!  We're both posing!

However, my folklore preference is Eastern European.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: New Title for Good boy Chew Toy (5/21/2011 12:49:46 AM)

Eastern Europe is the Johnny-Come-Lately of the vampire mythos.  The Celtic myths are older.  So are the African, Chinese, Greek and Sumerian.
